I am getting behind on videos but life is good. We are having a bit of a heat spell but nothing too terrible. A few fires have started but thankfully put out quickly. It is that time of year when forest fires are a big threat. Thanks for coming on along!

It is looking good right now. I was out today cleaning up bits here and there of faded spent flowers and improving my irrigation system. It is a hot one out there but then I am singing to the choir. It is probably 10 degrees hotter over in your neck of the woods.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse soooo hot! Lol 😂 I get out early and go inside early. I'm in the same boat as you... tidying up, trimming back... lots of irritation!! One day, I hope 🤞🏻 soon ... I'll have everything on drip and only have patio plants to hand water! 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hi Pam, for your back area, lavender and feverfew. I saved seeds from my feverfew last fall and now have 3 nice bushes. The lavender, I propagated 3 more plants from a large bush that was in my yard when I bought my home. I love my new sedum rock n low boogie Woogie, it’s spreading nicely! Thank you for such a relaxing show of your lovely garden!
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse
@FlowerPatchFarmhouse 13 дней назад
Thanks for the tips! Feverfew is a big spreader, I have a wide swatch in back, great place for lavender too back there. I will take cuttings and get more started. I will check out the sedum you recommended, I haven't heard of it before.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Hi Pam, boogie woogie sedum pairs nicely under my lavender: it has variegated leaves green with a cream color edge, pretty yellow flowers when it blooms! I am waiting for bw sedum to grow more before taking shoots…planning somewhere between August to September or October when our weather cools…I suspect my weather in eastern Washington state is much like yours…definitely 4 seasons and kind of a high desert feel limited rain, snow and ice in the winter, last year our low was -18F so I like plants that are graded zones 3-5 even though google says we are a zone 6, you are right about zones not capturing all of the weather unique to each area!

I just looked at DA catalog and had an eye on the scepter and I just planted the New Dawn climber this spring! It just started to bud 👏🏼👏🏼 You have your gophers and weevils and I have a rare mole and mosquitoes that are driving me mad 🤯! I Must get the Milky Spore down soon. That blasted thing bulldozed through the garden earlier and now hit every flower including roses!😡. I just tried to fertilize roses and couldn’t tolerate mosquitoes and heat/humidity and it was only 8am. It only got down to 72.8 and THANKFULLY the second storm skipped us! Sooo much rain! We’ve had at least 8” of rain since Friday. And more this Friday. There is no way I could film anything if I wanted to 😅the camera would be swinging at every swat which is at 100% right now. I went to work emptying every drop of water everywhere yesterday. One bright note is the squirrel thought our bug zapper was a feeder 😅 he won’t be a bother anymore. The foxgloves got wind swept last Saturday as Mother Nature seen fit 🙄 Love the Eden Rose 😍🤩. When I seen Cat’s Pajamas I Had to have one just for the name as you do with plants. My GMA always said, “Isn’t that the Cat’s Pajamas!” I didn’t even care what it looked like-how silly, but memorable. It’s in its 2nd year and picking up speed. Last year my new fav was calendula as it handles frost very well and this year the penstemon is rocking my socks off. It looked so beautiful at the base of Joseph clematis and the only thing that could have made it the Bomb would be Baby’s Breath-😍dreamy. I had pink which seeded out and a blue which I’m sure is penstemon blooming. Do they bloom all summer? Not sure why pink is done. I don’t see any dianthus like carnations or sweet Williams-maybe I missed them. Just cut back the Williams as they look ratty now and seed everywhere, but my main excitement will be if the carnations appear. I was so shocked they over wintered and love the dry hot area with lavender. Those scents of roses, carnations, lavender, plum trees, Mock Orange and Catalpa Tree -mmm-mmm if I could bottle it I’d be rich 🤑. Yes to the color pairing at end. Can you grow Baby’s Breath as that would look great. Not sure I’d they bloom at same time as I just started this year. Thank you for What’s Blooming!

I used to grow Baby's Breath when I lived in the valley but so far here I have not had success. I bought some Sapponaria seeds as they are supposed to have the same habit but they usually bloom during the cool of spring. I do miss being able to cut and dry the baby's breath for dried flower bouquets and crafts. It was slightly humid today, we have had thunder clouds roaming overhead but nothing like you folks but with the perspiration pouring into my eyes even though I did not feel it was that hot made things so uncomfy! Maybe you will get some milder weather soon to enjoy part of the summer.

Hi Pam, your garden is looking absolutely beautiful. It’s so crazy how it changes so fast from week to week. So happy to hear you don’t spray with any pesticides. People don’t realize the harm they’re causing when they’re killing the yucky bugs. Anyway, I was so excited to see your new video pop up. We just got a little rain down here in the central valley. Did you get some rain up there as well? It was very tropical actually very refreshing too. 🌸❤️🥰

We didn't get rain here but we did get thunder and lightening which we were afraid would start fires. The scent of smoke after thunder is always alarming. We had friends be evacuated from Copperopolis last week from that fire but they got to go home again this week. It is that time of year.

Okay. So it's totally beautiful. I mean, goodness gracious. I love all your roses. Would Garden Phlox do good on that hill? Not the creeping Phlox but the taller ones. Also, your Grandpa Newts rose, the color of it looks fabulous with that dark purple Clematis, and I do think that new rose in the pot would be perfect there with the other planting of what you pointed out would be gorgeous. I love the way the roses are climbing up. Oh my gosh, it's just magical. My garden is I'm looking very good but embarrassing a little bit at the same time. Because my lawm is getting really tall around the borders of my garden beds. My husband has not trimmed it? So it's looking a little scraggly. I look forward to your garden tours. All of your videos, actually, I enjoy them thoroughly. Thank you for all the time you put into it.❤❤

I think adding some garden phlox on the back hillside (shall we call the the Back Alley Garden?) would work. I just started a bunch of cuttings of nepeta too as I think that would do well with the roses and the deer don't seem to like them. The alley is one of their main thoroughfares in Fall.

@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Oh yes, I love the name, and I didn't think about Nepeta. That would be beautiful!❤️❤️

Cut back spent blooms to the first 5 leaves. Works like a charm. Some branches have 3, 5, 6 leaves and it is best for reblooming to cut back to above the 5th leaf.

I started many Petunias by seed this year after watching you. Most of them are doing great but now there are some that just die it seems for no reason (looks like they just melted is the best way to describe it). I wondered if you have had this happen to yours? It can be 1 or 2 in a pot and the others will be just fine. I'm so puzzled with this issue.

I had a bunch of weird stuff going on with my seed started petunias this year too. I thought it might be the spider mites in my greenhouse but now I wonder. It is puzzling.
