i got to see an advance screening of Saltburn and it was a fun romp. i also went into it knowing nothing, and i think thats the best way to go into this movie. even though i wish the story had gone in a slightly different direction, the performances and cinematography were so amazing it's one i'm still thinking about too. i really loved the uncomfortable sensuality of the film and i appreciate the witer/director for going there. and tbh probably any movie can be improved with a little full frontal nudity

I got to watch it at a film festival (camerimage) last month only knowing only that a couple cinematographers said it was great so I didn't even know what genre it was going to be. I had an amazing time with it! I don't think it has much depth but it's great fun and it's messed up and it looks amazing. It's like you make a gross-out comedy but actually with a lot of artistry.

Really confused why people always want to crap on Tim Burton's version of Wonka, it is by far the version most accurate to the book and the child actors are infinitely better than the ones in the older film trying to share a screen with Gene Wilder and failing miserably. I get it, Gene knocked it out of the park, but Johnny Depp is no slouch either, and finds the right middleground between childlike whimsy and psychological dysfunction.

Yeah. This is pretty much how I felt. It took itself too seriously and seemed like it didn't know what it wanted to be. Oliver's character felt very inconsistent to me. Why did he do all of the stalker shit regarding Felix if he just wanted the house in the end? And that montage of him scheming felt so unnecessary. This one peaked my interest towards the beginning and then completely lost me by the end. I've heard people talk positively about it and I still can't understand the hype. Even my gf, who is much less critical than me, didn't like it haha

Your review of Wonka is confusing considering the piece stands completely against the origin of the material.. and that the Tim Burton film fits more in line with the original story, it is meant to showcase the hypocrisy of the market capitalist, who is so blinded by selling people dreams that society neglects the needs of the people it is meant to serve.

The thing with Wonka is, even if it may be good, it's just nothing we needed. That's why it still feels underwhelming, you know pretty much exactly what to expect. Also while the Johnny Depp version was different, that one is actually based on the book, with Wonka being a bit childish. It feels dark at times because Wonka is supposed to be a bit naive, not noticing how messed up some things are. Gene Wilders original was not a good adaptation, luckily that isn't too unknown nowadays

problem is.. most people are so braindead now becuase of the poison in the water we drink that we have become a shallow 2D representation of what we should have been that we can either make it dark like Tim Burton or light like this krap and completely missing the fact that the original was neither light or dark it was its own vibe.. it had its own unique presentation and execution.. which was satirical.. unnerving.. joyful.. dark.. light.. and 10.000 other things hidden in subtext SUBTEXT IS COMPLETELY MISSING FROM TODAY'S MOVIES! TO THE POINT WHERE IN GUARDIANS 3 A CHARACTER LITERALLY SAYS "GOOD TO HAVE FRIENDS" which reminded me of Oscar from The Office, saying almost the same thing, while trying to force friendship with Michael to get new copier or chair. people dont know how to make movies anymore.. because people no longer exist. which means crtics no longer exist.. cause everyone is too scared to be honest.
