+Crono So because you dont like the same anime i do(God bless Cory senpai) you have to insult me? I bet the you watch shitty anime like Fullmetal Alchemist
Dory is such an annoying character, it baffles me that they decided to focus on her. I'd rather even watch Nemo's adventures in fish college or something.
I like Jenny Nicholson's review of this. paraphrasing: the problem is that Dory remembers things when she really really has to. so the movie isn't about overcoming disabilities, it has no great message, it's more about a character that can't remember stuff but when she really really really needs to, she suddenly does, and it's all ok. it is cute tho
because they feel like they left the story unfinished and that they have stuff to add to the universe and ppl and theyre children to be happy and money
+ViciousArbiter What does Ralph's fanbase have against Jeremy Jahns? He is a cool guy and he has honest opinions and isn't sucking up to critics all of the time.
Henry Jacob Because ralph's fan base is just as cynical as he is. Also jeremy does tend to be a fanboy and give movies much higher ratings than they deserve for example age of ultron
they're making ANOTHER toy story 4? how many god damn stories can you make about those toys before they just degrade and fall apart, living abandoned forever in somebody's dustbin?
@Gordon Rammstein Rumor has it that Toy Story 4 will focus on Woody searching for Bo Peep. It will be a "romantic comedy", and won't have too much of a connection to the first three. Personally, I'm intrigued by this premise, even if it's only a rumor. It's the only loose end I would ever give Pixar the permission to tie up TBH.
@AquaJetEmpoleon I'd be fine with that myself. It's not like that would be a stupid thing to do. But any other toys probably wouldn't have such an iconic appeal like Woody or Buzz...just saying. Popular characters bring back fans..which brings in so much $$$.
Considering my theater was filled to the brim with babies and little kids who laughed obnoxiously every time someone got hit by something, I hated it in theaters.
No matter how good it could've been, I still wouldn't enjoy it because at the back of my mind I would know it was only made for money. If you truly loved the first one, you would know that it was perfect how it was and the their story was resolved. Bigger is not always better. Not everything needs a sequel. Leave the audience wanting more.
Dear Ralph, Apparently, the Internet is apologizing to Zack Snyder for 'Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice' because his 'Ultimate Edition' is a much better movie than the theatrical cut. They say that editing problems are all gone and that the reasons that the film was cut down to its shorter length was due to the studio wanting to make more money. I am excited at the thought of a better film, but I would like to know from an expert. Please could you watch this 'Ultimate Edition' and let us know your opinions, so we can be advised. Yours Sincerely, B. Sharp (I'm British)
I totally, totally, totally agree. It was fine, but there were SO many coincidences and absurdities - and the movie and its characters were pretty forgettable.
Finding dory was the worst movie I have ever seen in my life it, everywhere they went there was convienent water to save them dory could breathe air somehow nemo loved dory more than his own father even though he's lived with his father for years and only knew dory for one year the convienient shells leading dory to find her parents that she didn't see before we never learned how dory could speak whale and a bunch more issues there were but I'm tired of typing I give this movie a 1/10
I love Up, it just gets everything it needed to have. It's one of the heaviest too. Childhood dreams getting crushed, loved ones being lost, learning your idol is a terrible person, the good of moving on, and realizing that what you needed may have been right there all along. Its not my favorite movie, or one of the greatest of all time. But is one of the best kids movies. Also, the only thing good about The Good Dinosaur was the water animation.
They should have made the characters age. Nemo got kidnapped like 10 years ago. Make him a teenager. Its weird this nigga is still a kid. It's been too long to just pick up where you left off. And an older Dory finally discovering herself woulda had a better impact too I think. But idk im just internet
I agree with all these points. And I was warned about it beforehand. I was not very entertained, but mostly hanging on because I cared about what happened to Dory. So it was meh. However, to say that it didn't connect to audiences... for me that was different. It's message about disabilities hit home for me, since I have a disability myself. I think Pixar handled it well, and the way Dory dealt with it felt realistic in some scenes. I won't be taking this movie home and adding it to my collection, but I still haven't forgotten that particular experience.
Incredibles is the sequel people really want but Pixar won't make it (until twenty-fucking-nineteen apparently) because they're clearly a bunch of sadists; Just go back and watch some pixar movies over again with that in mind.
@Jolly Trolly Calm down. And I'd like to think that having a 15 year gap between Incredibles 1 and Incredibles 2 is a GOOD thing. It shows they were in no hurry to create another story, and 15 years is MORE (more than more) than enough to hatch up some new ideas. When Incredibles 2 gets closer to release, they will hype the fuck out of it, and I guarantee it will OUT-SELL past their desired outcome!
I think it's sort of unfair to say that Pixar doesn't make unique movies anymore. Disney bought out Pixar in 2006 and has been using their animation and I'm pretty sure a majority of the Pixar team in their own movies. Examples of this would be Tangled, Frozen, and Big Hero 6 which is actually kind of a Marvel/Disney/ AND Pixar collaboration, but I digress. Also, I don't exactly think sequels are a bad idea. Toy Story 2 was just as good as Toy story in my opinion if not better. Cars 2 was just as bas as Cars and I'm sure Cars 3 will be too.
...But...Big Hero 6 isn't Pixar...Neither are Frozen or Tangle...May as well say Wall-e is an Apple movie by your logic...It's barely even a Marvel movie, the ties to the source material is so loose, probably why it wasn't advertised as such. And sequels aren't a bad thing, but when a company that used to release great new IP after great new IP with a rare sequel here and there suddenly starts pushing out sequel after sequel of let say 'average' quality, you can't deny they're not just coasting on good will...I mean, they're not bad movies, but they're not the quality I expect from Pixar.
Swam They (Pixar) don't seem to love what they do anymore. It's just a product to be shelled out. A very pretty, polishes product, but it's got no heart. I'd rather watch something that I can think back on than not.
Actually, Pixar's formula is "What if things that don't have feelings had feelings and two of them that don't like each other get in an adventure where they became best friends?".
The original had so many different setpieces and characters, creating a broad range of diverse atmospheres and emotion with a meandering, suspenseful plot. This was point a to point b, with the location of point b changing constantly being the driver of the plot. The locations and characters in Finding Dory weren't memorable because they lacked defining characteristics and moments. Thats why it was just meh
Where you get the bathrobe? Not making any accusations, could easily just be your mom's, BUT I REALLY NEED TO KNOW INORDER TO SLEEP!!! Oh, and I guess I agree with your opinion about Pixar being formulaic and shit. (Mumbles)
It's sad that Pixar seems to be lacking recently. Out of the line up coming soon, the only one I'm really excited for, and think is gonna be good is Incredibles 2.
The sarcasm was so strong in the beginning I almost drowned. Careful Raph, you could hurt yourself. Pixar is one of the only companies I trust to put out fairly good movies. While I personally didn't care for this Finding Nemo's side character spin off, at least it's better then Cars 2 (srsly, why must they make a movie for the comic relief characters). I felt like the only *real* emotions in Finding Dory, were aimed at parents with disabled kids. Which is rather specific for Pixar. The rest of the "emotional" moments were all just generic "feelsgood" ones.
I know I'm a minority in this, but I honestly did not like Up... The first ten or so minutes were the best part, then as soon as he landed his house everything just got gradually worse and even annoying to me... However, I loved Finding Dory! I'm not gonna pretend it broke any new grounds, but it sure was entertaining for what it was. :D I even cried a bit.. Silly I know, but seeing an adorable baby Dory all alone and scared made my heart cry. ;-; Also, Hank the "septopus" easily made the whole movie.
I still really enjoyed it. Maybe it's the Pixar fanboy in me. I loved it. I understand why some people think it's average, though. It just bums me out that I'm the basically one of the only people who enjoys almost all Pixar films nowadays. I still love all Pixar films even today with the exception of the Cars films and Brave.
In my opinion, its the best Pixar sequel since Toy Story 2. You said it wasn't memorable, which is fine, but I loved all the side characters in this film, Hank the octopus in particular. Super fun to watch and I feel like there was a good story here, unlike Monsters University. As for messages and real world parallels, it shows how people view those with mental disabilities. It's not as smart as i'm making it sound but the comparisons were still there enough for kids to take something from it the same as me. Solid B- in my opinion, way better Pixar films out there but i'll still buy this on DVD when it comes out
To me, Finding Dory was just... pointless. They kept the plot going by using Dory’s memory loss. They would make her randomly remember shit, and that would push the plot. It was so lifeless to me.
I couldnt handle how insanely positive you were at the beginning. I understand and understood why you were doing it before you explained yourself. Glad you got that shit off your taste.
7:37 "Wasn't Toy Story 3 supposed to be the last one? that's what made it so emotional for everybody, remember that DO YOU REMEMBER THAT??!" - Ralphthemoviemaker 2016
I watched this when I came out when I was a 14 year old girl who had an interest in good movies, interest in animation and was slightly hyped for the release d finding dory as finding memo was always a childhood movie of mine. I ended up turning off finding dory after 20 minutes because it was boring. Also I hate Ellen degenerate.
I really like the Incredibles 2, it was visually really good, action packed, voice acting was also good overall, it was funny because of Jack-Jack and occasionally other characters. BUT, it was really obvious from the get-go of who the villain is, so the plot could've been better because of the aforementioned villain. SPOLIERS AHEAD Pixar pulled a move that i like to call (totally didnt think of it just now) the "Mandarin", where a movie has a great villain but it turns out to be someone else pulling the strings. In Iron Man 3, the villain is the Mandarin and he was genuinely scary, a threat to Tony not Iron Man or the whole world, just him. But that's all thrown out the window when it was really the nerdy guy from the beginning. They did the same thing w/ Screenslaver. He was terrifying, used hypnosis through screens, and he even had a speech about how society relied on technology too much, a similar action to the Mandarin. But when Helen was kidnapped, that's when the movie lost me. While it was kinda obvious that it was Evelyn the whole time, I still hoped during the movie that it was an actual person, not a weak plot twist.
This movie should've been a direct-to-DVD sequel you can only get in a bargain bin at walmart, not a movie released in cinemas. It suffers from classic 90s Disney sequel-itis, specifically the kind where a different character is thrust through nearly the exact same journey as in the first movie. I thought we were done pulling this kind of bullshit by now.
I totally understand your point. I agree, to an extent. Other than the fact I thought the movie was fine, I can explain why the movies have decreased in quality. Disney has full rights over Pixar, and because of this, they are pushing to make as many sequels as possible from their money making machine. That’s why toy story 2 and 3 exist. Ever watched a direct - to - dvd - sequel from Disney? They’re terrible. That is what they’re doing to Pixar, but the people there are doing everything they can to craft a decent movie. It’s hard with Disney’s lack of budget and harsh deadlines. Anyone who is more interested in this, I will be making a video on this topic soon.
