I have done two dozen broadway musicals and was Bert the chimney sweep for a Disney tour, so I am very knowledgeable about this form of entertainment. My favs are Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music, Victor Victoria and Mary Poppins! This Wonka is now one of my favorites!!! I’ve seen it twice and will go again soon.

Wasn’t quite sure where you were going with this video. But I think your characterization of Willy being scary is an exaggeration. And his illiteracy was hardly a subplot. I thought it was a good movie and I thought Timothee did a fantastic job at portraying Willy’s optimism, naïveté, and kindheartedness before he got jaded. Give it another chance and watch it again.
