This is very educational, thank you for the interesting videos. I was in the process of staining my staircase, after ripping off the dingy carpeting that was on it. I didn't really know what I was doing, but I did know what I wanted. Thank goodness I came across your videos. They are so easy to follow and I learned exactly what I needed to complete my staircase to look professional instead of what probably would have looked like a half finished attempt at my desired goal. I look forward to more such videos as my next project is to paint my stained kitchen cupboards white.

Thank you Mister! This is very helpful explanation even for many of us who are not from UK or US. In my country shellac is super rare to find or for example varnish is sold under name lacquer here. Now I finally know what varnish and stain are supposed to be here in my country. :) Very well explained!

Perfect! I might need to watch this video two or three more times to help it soak in. I love the way you give your professional and personal opinion based on experience versus a scientific approach. From everything I have learned so far about this subject, you have absolutely nailed it. For me, this will tend to be my go to source of good information. It will help me clarify what direction I will go on any particular wood project in the future ... at least until I understand the subject as well as you do ... which will probably be never.

I'm glad I found this video. I have a pine cabinet that I've been oiling for years and wanted to start with wax so I could get a bit of shine on it. But the guy in the hardware store told me that I can't use wax if I've already used oil. Somehow I thought he didn't really know but didn't want to admit it. So finally I looked around YT. Aha! I haven't used the wax yet because I now know that I can't go back to oil and I do like the oil's natural staining effect. But it sure is good to know what's possible.
