Whisky.com reviews the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Woodford Reserve Double Oaked was matured in two different oak casks. After the first barrel maturation in the specially handcrafted white oak barrels, it is matured in another barrel that has been toasted longer but burned out shorter. Woodford is the only American distillery that triple-distils its whiskey in traditional Pot Stills.

Nothing like this WDO and Old Forrester 1910…two heavyweight champs! I go back and forth on which is my favorite.

This is a great bourbon & definitely worth the extra money over a good quality basic bourbon ( WT101 or Buffalo Trace ) in the 30`s region if you`d like a change. I`d suggest the Double-Oaked from Woodford is better than many whiskies costing in the 90`s, it`s that flavoursome. I personally use this to mix 50/50 with Jack Daniels Barrel-Proof for the ultimate taste & flavour monster :)

Great bottle and yes the abv is higher in the US, unless it was just a typo from his notes and its also 45.2% there.

How come no slushy sounds? I am wondering if you were tasting too much of the whiskey when you were doing that? I tried doing it a couple of times and it was too much taste, too much wood spices no matter what the whisky was. Even Gentleman Jack became harsh.

This has always been my favorite bourbon that’s easily found in stores. Often imitated nowadays, but never duplicated. Even its sibling, Old Forester 1910, doesn’t quite match-up to it.

If you have to choose between both Whiskys you should probably go with Woodford, because it offers more complexity and aromas. In the end it's all personal preference
