This is a great comparison. I wish all the other companies would do something similar so we consumers could see the real differences.

As of 2020, I've noticed the HM122 has picked up a few improvements & features since you made this video......is it time to do a new "Shootout Video?"

I bought the HM126 last year and I am 100% satisfied with it's performance. My only regret is that I didn't buy one a lot sooner. I am having so much fun making my own lumber. Love the video!

It's rare to find a comparison video of such high quality as this one. Woodland's in my opinion just shot up quite a bit in the ranking as you at least get the idea these guys WANT to build a great product and be open about it. Congrats !!!

Thank-you for your comments. It is a great video to watch when deciding on which mill best suits your needs.

Really helpful video for trying to decide on a new mill, as are the hour long detailed videos on each mill that show actual operation. Most other companies have a 5 minute promotional video that doesn't really show any specifics.

I've been using the 126, super little saw, does a great job, excellent finish on the cut. For the cost it's the very best saw a guy can get, well designed, reliable, simple and super effective. The only thing I wish it had are adjustable saw guides... upgrade kit maybe? It's super important to replace the blade as soon as any discrepancies start to happen. Keep the logs clean (I wash and scrub mine!) or remove the bark completely on old growth Fir which has very thick bark on the butt log. At the moment I'm trying to figure out a log flipper.. I'm 71 and rolling over 16ft by 24" logs is getting a bit much for me and a peevey! ... but I'm having a lot of fun using the mill anyway! Awesome job guys. Cheers.

Hi Roger, We are happy to hear that you are enjoying your HM126! Clean logs will help your blades last longer. You can power wash them or remove the bark if possible. When the owners designed the HM126, they confirmed that with the cutting width and 9.5 HP Kohler the HM126 does not require adjustable blade guides. When set correctly the blade will cut true and should not deviate. Give our office a call to see if they can recommend something to assist you in turning your logs, or with any questions that you may have, 1-855-476-6455. Enjoy your mill!

I’m looking at getting an HM126 (hopefully) next spring (I need to get some ground, first.) I’d be kinda curious to see how the 126 with the 14hp option stacks up against the regular 126 and the 130.

idk if its mentioned in the video but current pricing as of june 2018 is 2800$ for the hm122 and the next models increase by 800$ each, they offer trailer systems for all the mills now too.. really good bang for your buck i would say although i havent used one yet.. woodmizer is about triple the cost for equivalent machines and idk how they justify it

What a great video to show all three sawmills. I’ve made a decision on the 130 model, but now need to decide if I want to go with the portable version to move the mill indoors when not in use.

The HM122 is about twice as fast as my chainsaw mill per cut. But since I'm using the Akaskan style chainsaw sawmill, the HM122 would probably have a bdft per hour of 3-4 times what my chainsaw sawmill can do.

Great video Josh! Time to do an update with the HM130Max. Did Adam pull the short straw? How do I get ahold of one of those T-shirts?

Do these still use oil to lubricate the saw? thought that was a no no. Others use water.

Hello, Josh, great videos you make. This is the best, probably the only comparison of its kind I have seen. Great machines at a good price. Can the HM130 XL be extended by an additional element, or is this only possible with stationary mills? And how long is such a piece of supplementary rail? Best regards Lothar
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 5 лет назад
Hi Lothar, With stationary mills track extensions are available in 6’5” sections and you could add as many tracks as you wish. The Woodlander XL trailer package at 19’3″ (5.8m) length provides the ability to cut log lengths up to 16’11″ (5.1m) and is the longest available trailer length that we offer.

With the 14 hp option on the 126 should it be more in line with the speed of the 130 ?

whats the reasoning behind the back of the blade guard bing flat across and limiting the cut depth to 7" on the 126 and 130 seems like just removing some of that guard would let people get the 8" cants that are popular in log house and pole barn construction
@AndrewBrowner
@AndrewBrowner 6 лет назад
great video btw im leaning towardds a woodland mills over other brands because of how clear yous are with everything and the willingness to help customer get solutions without just saying " buy our product X" however building my own mill is also a very interesting idea, i have all the fab gear required to do so
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 6 лет назад
The back beam that the motor bolts to is behind the blade guard. This is what prevents the throat opening height from being increased any more than 7”.
@bwillan
@bwillan 7 лет назад
I wouldn't have thought there would be such a large time difference between the 122 and 126 for 2.5 hp difference in motor size.
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 7 лет назад
Hello bwillan, Thanks for your comment. The extra 2.5HP is one thing to consider, but the other is the blade speed. The HM126 runs a larger clutch on the engine than the HM122. This means that the blade speed on the HM126 is actually faster. This contributes to the increased cutting time you saw in the video.

Great comparison video. I plan to purchase an HM 130 in mid-late 2107. Do you have plans to introduce a larger mill soon? If so, I would wait for its release.
