I mean woodley was rapping and acting vs till and had a great performance I think it comes down to his style which became right hand reliant and his volume of striking just wasn't there
Tyrone’s biggest mistakes: 1. hanging with askren for too long 2. underestimating marty 3. hugging bones...and passing on all the champion energy to jon jones
@@We_Are_Connected what tf does this have to with race , people love izzy and ngannou . People call woodley and usman boring cuz they are very bad trash talkers , thats just the truth
Woodley was never the same after this, lost 4 in a row and also lost to Jake Paul. Crazy because going into this fight he was the favourite, was undefeated in 7 fights, including being undefeated in his 5 title fights. Things can change fast in MMA.
He never was he just had some favorable matchups. He has always been a explosive wrestler with a big overhand right. Even back to the rory Macdonald or Jake shields fights he had the same issue. If he cant take you down all he has left is the big overhand. And if he doesnt land it he usually loses the round. You never see him just purely outstrike some1 for a round
Seriously one of the biggest MMA mysteries of all time to me. I figured he'd at least beat Colby because that fight should've brought out the true savage in him but not even that could bring him back, it's a shame but at the same time Usman is doing a helluva job as welterweight champ.
Tyron was on a downward trend ever since he won the title. His draw vs WB wasn’t great, the rematch was terrible (no one should won that fight), the defense vs Maia was somehow ever worse. The still finish was nice but 6 out of his last 7 fights he’s literally done almost nothing in the cage.
@@Superboi100 It's sink or swim against Luque. The only silver lining for Woodley is that Luque isn't gonna shoot for a takedown. It's gonna be brutal but there should be more opportunities to land dat right.
@@Therealdrewdober say whatever you want Woodley made his own history in welterweight division he has 5 belts 1 reign and 4 defences the same with usman and ranked in third place in belts hold at welter weigh behind gsp and Hughes...
Knowing what we know now about Kamaru Usman's potential, it's interesting to watch these media day exchanges between Woodley and Kamaru. Tyron tried to big brother him, but Kamaru KNEW he could break Tyron, and he really went out there and shut down his entire gameplan. Woodley hasn't been the same since. The Nigerian Nightmare is the truth.
No one talks about Woodley went all 5 rounds... compared to what Usman has done to everyone else.. this was impressive. Especially considering how underprepared Woodley was. He was in and out of love with the fighting game at the time.
Yeh but Usman now would knock Tyron out. The fight wasn't even close and the only reason the fight went all 25 minutes was because Usman's stricking back then wasn't up to par to be able to knock out someone as quick and strong as tyron Woodley.
What exactly is impressive? Usman has a bunch of decisions and Tyron got whooped every single round. There’s nothing in person about going back to the corner. Every chance you get in not being able to do a damn thing.
what Usman did was put pressure on woodley and make him tire as much as he could because he never had a lot of cardio so Usman didn't give him room he worked on isometrics and made him look imposing and when his heavy right hand doesn't go in he becomes a passenger of agony, it's sad to see how he was taken away for nothing because in december 2018 he was talking to joe rogan about being the new goat from the is category even thinking about moving up to middleweight, and after that loss everything changed
Woodley was a solid champion. He isn't the same after this fight. Sad thing seeing fighters go from a beast to barely being able to compete with the top dogs.
Usman pointed out the holes in Woodley's game and how he planned to exploit them. Gave us a clear image of what would happen, and absolutely dominated when the time came. He had Woodley looking unsure of himself the entire fight, just trying to survive all 5 rounds. The Champ really got soul snatched.
When woodley said “are you doing it against the greats”, I realized that usman is now. Woodley, Colby, Masvidal, and Burns. All great fighters. Dominated. Crazy how much he’s evolved in just a few fights.
@@DeezNuts-xn9kj the fight itself was very very competitive. But the finish was very emphatic in my opinion, which is what I meant. You’re right about the fight itself. I should’ve clarified on that part. My b 😅
Usman was actually a “nightmare” for Twood. He was a top welterweight and some still have him in their WW goats but the beat down Kamaru gave him changed him, out wrestled, out struck. The fight shows the level Usman was at and he’s constantly improving to this day. I see him being caught up to eventually like Tyron, it happens to everyone but right now he looks unstoppable.
@@johnjohnson9567 if he’s able to reach GSP’s freak number of title defences then surely he’s a goat. within 2 years he’s won and defended the belt 5 times. seems inevitable.
@@cody1254 Leave them be Cody, they think that because Askren is a poor striker he isn't one of the best wrestlers in MMA. A gold medal Olympian that went 19-0 before facing Masvidal, that being with a hip replacement to be had.
@@sweatlewood1782 yeah but after he lost to usman there was a significant difference in woodleys performances and he just seems like a scared version of his old self
I remember seeing that faceoff at the press conference and thinking “oh shit, Usman really does believe he’s gonna beat Woodley”. The eyes never lie and Usman was beaming with confidence.
cant believe i missed out on this fight while i was taking a break from watching mma, so many titles changed hands around then so when i came back to the sport i felt like i missed so much
Usman Really grinder all the way from the ultimate fighter to the world champion I don’t think anyone thought he would make it that far but look how active he is at defending it and how much better he got all around
Coming from a poverty ridden country definitely makes a difference on how you do things...appreciate things. I was born in the usa but my dad came here from the Philippines via the navy in 1955 at age 17...he told and taught us what a privilege it is to be here...so many stories of growing up in the early 40's thru the 50's in the Philippines in poverty and war.....hes now 85 yrs old and has and still does say hes proud to be a citizen of the US.
Usman is now on a 15 fight win streak in the UFC and is the best pound for pound fighter itw Woodley lost twice to Jake Paul and got sparked the second time Very different paths
