Welcome everyone to this Oscar worthy video featuring the Woodpeckers clamping squares. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of mostly everything Woodpeckers builds, but I use their clamping squares on literally every build I do as long as there are 90deg corners. These things are built like a tank, dead on accurate and overall make construction just a lot more easy and fun!

Brian I just found your channel and truly enjoy your honesty and candor about the tools that you purchase. I am a 68 year old retired business owner but more importantly a wore out broken down professional Moto Cross racer that has been woodworking for the past few years. After getting off the bikes I needed a Hobby and my wife mentioned woodworking because most everything is "bench" high and my many hip and knee surgeries won't allow me to do much work on the floor. I mentioned the tools you purchase are superior. While I was racing motocross we spent fortunes on everything that would give us just a fraction of an edge or at least equal to our competition. I have now adapted that same attitude in my woodworking. I don't golf, fish, hunt etc.. but I spend my money on woodworking tools to make things for my family and friends and making my "workshop" my show piece Didn't mean to get this wordy but please keep up the videos and wish you all the success on youtube while on your way to 1 million subscribers eventually. My motto is "Tools are Like Horsepower -- You can Never have Enough"

Mike, I truly appreciate you’re comments and wish you the best with your hobby. Woodworking to me is a true “getaway” and a place I can go to when things get crazy. That’s one reason I built my shop the way I do. Not all people like my shop because I keep it so clean, but honestly, sometimes at night after we get the kids down, I’ll just go out there and sit on my bench with a cold beer and just think up of stuff to do next. I love it. It’s my version of a man cave. Again, thanks for your kind words.

Your love for quality tools is amazing. For a hobbyist I cannot justify them but if it was my profession I can see how they would be beneficial

I just added 4 of this style clamps to my shop from BangGood. Very high quality tools for a much lower price allowed me to see how this system will work in my cabinet and dovetailed drawer assemblies. I purchased several of their best tools with recommendations from another RU-vid channel and all of them look great and will help in my accuracy in layout, construction and assembly. They are a good alternative to those overseas where Woodpecker tools aren’t available.

I like the idea of using the clamping squares to support a shelf, nice way to add functionality beyond the originally designed purpose of these squares. One thing you forgot to mention was the acme thread on the clamps, which is a really nice feature that's better than regular screw threads - don't damage easily and allow you to quickly move the knob back and forth with a couple of spins. Speaking of the knobs, these Woodpeckers knobs are very nice in their own right. A little larger than others so the fit in your hand well and made from really tough plastic, nothing cheap here. Nice video, keep 'em coming!

Great video(s)! Envious of your tool collection. Slowly building my own, but its great to have these videos to help decide what to get and why. In another video you mentioned BIS- Beaver Industrial for all things festool. Totally agree, talked with Brandon over there and he was super helpful as far as walking me through the sanders and dust collection. Keep these coming and thanks again!

I appreciate the detailed video and overview. For me, this would be a very hard purchase to justify. $210 for a set of 4 squares and clamps is pretty steep, when theoretically if your blade is 90 degrees and your panels are dimensioned precisely, carcass assembly should be "self-squaring" in effect. Having the incredibly degree of precision that Woodpeckers claims is totally overkill for woodworking, maybe you could justify that for metalworking. I do appreciate clamping a square L-shaped piece of plywood to my corners during assembly just to serve as a set of extra hands while tacking things in place, but if the panel isn't held in perfect 90 degrees it doesn't really matter. Not to crap on your video at all, great work presenting these tools and their use, keep it up man! I have learned a lot from your Festool reviews as well.

Thanks for the comment Ben! These are not meant for everyone, but I find them to be useful for me and my work. Do I need that extreme accuracy in woodworking? Probably not, but I do like knowing it’s there.

Love the content. Keep up the great work. Would like to see some build videos but I agree with you it’s cool to see others shops and tools. By the way your shop is awesome I would definitely just go in there and hangout. Hope to have an awesome shop like that eventually some day and I am also looking to start doing a woodworking RU-vid channel some time this year as well. But again your videos are awesome and look forward to see more.

Seems like those black plastic squares once clamped will bend out of 90° square.
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors 3 года назад
This is true. Personal experience with that happening, so I don’t trust them anymore.

I'm using pocket holes for my joints... my primary problem is that the boards move when I tighten my pocket hole screws... do these clamps hold the boards in place?
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors 3 года назад
These would work for that. In fact, I’ve used them exactly for that before and it worked well.

These clamps are really expensive, $270 plus tax plus ship for 2 pairs .I can the same style ones on amazon for 70 bucks. I understand you get what you pay for, and that i have read some reviews on amazon that say theirs are just slightly not a perfect 90 degree, but overall reviews are good. These clamps are 4 times the cost of the amazon ones..... is it worth it??
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Год назад
In my opinion yes. I too have a pair of Amazon clamps are there is no comparison.

@@BrianWatersOutdoors like not being a perfect 90? fit and finish? i need justification for spending 4x the amount....
@BrianWatersOutdoors
@BrianWatersOutdoors Год назад
A bit of both. These things are super heavy duty and can “bend” Your boards and hold them at 90 without flexing at all. And the machining on these are great. But yes, they are expensive. I bought mine last December when woodpeckers had them on sale for Christmas.

I also have guaranteed that if I say it’s 12 inches it will be within 1/1000 of 12 inches...Turns out my guarantee was not as accurate as the one from woodpeckers lol

Those clamps only do alignment not pressure.

Exactly. I don’t use them for clamping force, only for alignment and setups.

I think Woodpeckers is a good quality tool but the people buy it only because its looking so good. I dont need it specialy for that price.
