Really great! Anyone has to know that those tools are scary sharp the way he makes it look so easy.

When you started to paint the fish I thought NO!!! I'm glad I watched the rest of the video as the end result is magnificent. Cheers, Huw

Huw Davies - Thanks, the multiple layers of paint really help set it off... we plan to release another video that’s more detailed on the painting too.

Looks like a stuffed Northern Pike. Great job! The teeth on a Pike or Musky are thin and extremely sharp. The color is more translucent blueish white. I think you captured it well enough for a wood replica. Best regards.

Between 1:16 and 1:28, why not use a either a mortiser or a plunge router to cut open that groove instead of using a chisel where it could damage your project (also the plunge router and mortiser make cleaner cuts as well)??
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine 5 лет назад
I think that in this case with the edge of the fish being an odd shape it was just easier to do it by hand with a chisel. Chris is pretty skilled with hand tools, but if it were me I probably would have tried to figured out a way to do it with a power tool. One thing I will mention, during that clip - Chris was chiseling toward himself... I would not recommend that. Although I've made that mistake before, at least I can honestly say I have chiseled abs now. :(

@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine oh no I'm so sorry to hear that and I promise I won't chisel towards me because I've used both a chisel and a carving tool before and I haven't cut myself yet. :)

@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine also between 6:34 and 7:10 where he chisels out the scales, that's some pretty good work there. I mean that must've taken hours right??

superdavidbrothers - it was pretty minor as shop injuries go... nothing a little super glue couldn’t patch up. :). Live and learn I guess.

superdavidbrothers - I’m not sure how long this all took as we filmed a little here and there over a couple of weeks.
