@@manalonedies - Nice reference. That was my favourite song for about two years as a teenager. Got to see Procol Harum perform it live too. Still love that song. Thanks for the memory jog. 😀
This is stunningly beautiful. The grain on the bottom was an added bonus! Thank you very much, Mr Phillip, for sharing this gem and for the reminder to never give up.
That was one of the best wood turns I've seen. Most people would give up and just drown it in resin. You instead decided to make it dark and brooding and give it a story on why there was a rotten spot. This bowl is straight up goth and I love it for it. Is it for sale?
Even though it was rotten to the core it sure turned out just great Andy. I really like the designs those electronic probes made in the work. They look like bushes and trees.
Again with another masterpiece! Not gonna lie, when I saw the bug I was concerned. But you made something beautiful out of something that would have just rotted away. Thanks for sharing your talent!!
I thought that bug was on my screen. I brushed away at it and thought it was on me as it disappeared. I jumped up and was brushing at my clothes to make sure it was off me. Didn't know it was not on my screen until I saw a post regarding it. 😆 I was so afraid you were going to catch your gouge (think that is the right name) in that big hole that opened up. This turned out really cool when you were finished. Only have seen that technique done once before awhile back. So glad all went well. 💜😊💜🇺🇸
That was a genius move. I would have probably put it in a corner and tried to forget about it. Artistic talent shines through again. Thank you for posting. 👍🏼
When life hands you lemons Andy, you can make one heck of a glass of lemonade!! This piece is incredible!! I'm sure you gave that insect one heck of a ride!!
I got a good laugh with the little critter. I’ve seen the electricity technique used on projects combined with epoxy but never anything turned. I like it a lot! Nicely done
The product that you shared in this video is the result of your art, creativity and skill. In addition to your abilities, those who are interested can also benefit from educational tips.
What an amazingly beautiful piece! At one point I realized I was holding my breath waiting for it to explode. I had that happen a couple times and it's startling. Always glad for my face shield! Keep up the great work!
That turned out great. The fractil burning really gave it character Thanks for sharing and showing that even the worst piece of wood can be made beautiful
I'm glad you are being safe with the extreme voltages for the electric etching. Everytime I see someone holding the positive and negative ends in their hands it makes me think that there's another world where that person's video never got finished.
7:29 That's incredible; I've never seen anything like that. Also, I never cease to be amazed at how you can turn random lumps of wood into such beautiful works of art.
odd question, but did it feel different when working on this piece? i know that people in artistry business tend to be able to get a sixth sense (i get it with music) and so i was wondering if you could feel a noticeable difference working with this wood.
Surprise 😯, with a good ending 🎉. We saw something good and creative, backed by good material security 😃. One of the best videos this year, but short 😐, many things have been skipped 🤷🏻♂️.
Proof you can turn something rotten to the core into something beautiful! I love it! It has so much character 💜 Although I couldn’t help but think of the couple that died recently trying to do that same electrical burning technique. They were electrocuted and their home burned down 💔. Just another reminder that not everything you see on TikTok & RU-vid is safe to try at home.
Loved the video and the technique you used I have only seen once or twice. Electrifying it to match the opening of the rot made it look like lightning struck and the fires helped to design it.
That bug! What an image 🤣 I don't know why (other than the fact that I am goofy), but when you plucked the knob off the end of the piece with the chisel it made me laugh. . .and then the bug! I'm not right🤣 ABSOLUTELY beautiful results!
Hi Andy. You really could not tell the log was rotten on the inside till you got there, but it came out nicely. The electricity burn gave it a nice look in the end.
Really glad you didn't "Give Up" on that piece, as it turned out quite spectacular as usual. WOW! I kind of envision that might be what a piece of timber that survived a lightning strike might look like at its core. Truly amazing work with that. Thanks for sharing as always.
Beautiful bowl, too many turners would have filled it with resin. I like the void, it gives it character. The burning was pretty good also. Thanks for sharing.
