Watching your channel for the first time. I just picked up a Delta lathe just like the one you are using in this video. Mine was missing a couple of parts and the person rigged up some home made alternatives. Trying to find replacement parts but can’t figure out the tail stock wheel. Mine has some type of lever.

Question: I am new to turning and a lathe was given to me. My lathe has belts for different speeds. Each level of pulleys has a range of speeds. How can you utilize the full range of speeds if you don’t have a speed controller on your lathe? Can you attach one as an “aftermarket” addition?

Seriously? You call this a beginning tutorial? No mention about lathe speed, rest height, riding the bevel, raising the handle to deepen the cut, always cutting downhill, and a dozen other important techniques.

I think I agree, I'm a total newbie and like I've learn more with quick videos " how to turn blablabla" than with this. The simple fact he said at the start to cut the edges of the blank with a hatchet or whatever handy I was like " really??" My first question was how to do it safely but

appreciate the free tutorial, but as a beginner it really would have been more helpful to have your camera angle *actually* display your hands at work, rather than a wide angle perspective face to face. no offense intended.
