Hay man your past the 1k mark now, the finial is stunning, the contrast between the black finial and the white urchin works really well. Thanks for sharing
That is truly gorgeous, Bruce. Great video as always! If my shout-out helped I couldn’t be happier. It’s amazing to me that you haven’t hit 1,000 subscribers by now. You will make it soon, I’m sure! 👍👍👍
Hello Gord! Thank you very much and thank you again for the shoutout!! Really helped with over 100 new subs!! You are awesome!! Glad you like the video too! Thanks again and safe turnings my friend!!👍🏻👍🏻
That is a nice final! I can't seem to get mine right ever. It is very nice and thin, delicate. Matches the fragileness of the urchins shell. Very nice!
Looks great Bruce! Where did you get the sea urchin I love the idea. Congrats on the boost of subs you certainly deserve them. Just hang in there my guess is it will really take off now. Keep doing this great work my friend, Gary
Thank you Gary! I had these a while, I think I picked these up on Etsy. This was a fun project! Thanks on the boost! Gords shoutout was very welcomed! This Woodturning community is awesome!! Take care my friend!
Looks great Bruce! When I do the urchin ornaments I like to use foam insulation to fill the inside of the urchin so they are not as fragile, it’s open cell insulation and doesn’t take much. 👍🇺🇸
I always wondering how woodturners are making this part with "nipples" 🤔 It's is a shell 😲 Eureka! While watching I thought You will make a finial with roughing gouge only. It could to be a real challenge 😁 Ornament looks very nice, Bruce 👌 Love it.
Hi Bruce, That is stunning!!!!! Amazing work. Making a finial is on my list of things I have yet to try. Great result from the shout our by Gord. Rod Humphrey gave me a shout out a couple of months ago and my subs jumped up by over a 100 as well. You deserve to have a load more than a 1000 subs Bruce. I just wish I could subscribe a load more times. Take care Bruce. Cheers, Huw
Hello Huw, thank you so very much, I really appreciate it!! Yes, Gords shoutout was a big shot to the channel, and was really appreciated!! I seen your subs climb from Rod’s shoutout, that’s do awesome! I think I’ve busted more finials than I’ve completed, 😂! I’ve been getting a lot better with practice! Thanks again Hum, appreciate ya!
Hi Ron! Thank you very much! I used a paint store stick with sand paper glued on it and sanded gently, it worked great for flattening/leveling the ends. Thanks again Rob!👍🏻
Good morning Jordan, I am a new subscriber through Gord, lovely job on the ornament, I have made quite a few of those and sold them at local craft sales and they are popular! A couple of things I do is paint some modge podge inside the urchin as this will toughen the shell! Thanks for the video and keep them coming! Cheers Al
Hello Al, thank you very much for the sub band awesome compliment!! Gord really helped my channel out with his shout out! That’s a great idea with the modge podge! Thanks!! Appreciate ya!👍🏻👍🏻
Замечательная работа!!!!!!! А из ракушек и створок раковин украшение можете придумать орнамент? У меня их много, не знаю куда использовать! Great job!!!!!!! Can you make an ornament out of shells and shell flaps? I have a lot of them, I don't know where to use them!
Very nice turning. Do the sea urchins come like yours, with the holes on either end? I would like to try what you did. Nice to know that ca glue works for gluing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Joseph! Yes these urchins did. I’ve had these a while, I think I picked up from Etsy. I had to sand down a couple of the nuns so the finials sat flush. The CA glue works well , I know this because I broke a couple of finished ones and the shell was still attached where it was glued to the finial😀 glad you liked it !!
Hi Joseph, thank you very much, I really appreciate it! The ink is an alcohol based dye from crafts supply (see link) and the spray is a gloss lacquer you can pick up from any home supply / hardware store. www.woodturnerscatalog.com (artisan dye)
