This is now my favorite woodturning channel. No talking. No upbeat, royalty free music. No overplayed segmented pieces. Just a log, a lathe, and amazing skill
I have never seen a wood grain like this. It's beautiful. I held my breath when the "dangerous scene" - I feared it was going to break. Your work is stunning!
Thank you for your comment!!🙏🇯🇵 I felt the thickness with the sound, so it became as thin as paper. But helped by the strength of the log! Have a nice day!!
Another beautiful piece. The cracking scene made me think how many pieces of wood that you had to destroyed to hone your skill to this level. We always admire a finished artwork without knowing the price in time, efforts and hard work the artist has to pay to achieve the standard he finally attains. Great works!
Thank you very much!!🙏 I'm so glad to hear that! It takes a little practice to be able to make them. For works with a wide mouth, the difficulty level decreases.
Wow, what a great save, and a lovely finished piece. Very nicely done. Given your skills on such thin pieces, I would love to see you turn a lamp shade from another piece of that tree.
@@YamabikoWoodArt absolutely! it's amazing that you can get it thin enough for the light to shine through showing the grain in another "light" as it were..simply Beautiful..
Hello Yamabiko1220, that log has some nice grain patterns in it. I love how you turn the walls of your projects so thin, shame about the tool catch and the resulting cracks. Regards Chris.
Thank you for your comment!! From Japan🙇🇯🇵The wood was wet, so it was easy to scrape. However, it was difficult because there was a lot of oil and the surroundings became dirty.
Really lovely vase, the grain of the wood is shown to perfection!!! Sorry about the mishap though, but please let us know how the piece dries out, would love to see a photo of it... thanks so much for sharing
That was a close call. I am glad that you were able to save the piece. I see on Google maps that there are a lot of trees in your area. Do you get your wood locally or do you have to order it??? You do a nice job of making the video as well as your art work. I do some metal art but it does not take the talent that you have. My goodness it is so thin.
Thank you for your comment!! 🙇🇯🇵 It's a little too thin. There are various trees nearby. However, the wood I use is made from wood that has been damaged by a disaster or cut for maintenance. I don't cut wood for my work. There are few people who make thin works, so I will try to master it.
Olá. Bela peça como.todas que faz. Muita técnica e muita dedicação e esmero. Admiro seu trabalho. Estou procurando habilidades nós teus vídeos.. Grato por publicar.
When you green turn something like this with very thin wall does it help in drying without cracking?... I am assuming you don't partly turn, let it dry then continue. You do beautiful works, quite inspiring since I want to start to wood turn.
Thank you for your comment!!🙏🇯🇵 If using green wood, the wall thickness should be less than 1 cm. Even if log have a pith, it will be hard to break. Please enjoy it.
Он Вас и не понял, похоже . Зато я с Вами полностью согласен , искусством здесь и не пахнет. Обыкновенный лущильный процесс, показан с целью рекламы инструментария.
Thank you for your comment!🙏🇯🇵 Depending on the tree species, it may move powerfully in a short period of time. This didn't move much due to the soft wood.
Hi all the work you do is beautifully crafted. Look forward to each video. Can I ask is most of the wood you use still wet/green? How long do you usually wait once the wood has been cut down before you turn it in the lathe?
Thank you very much!!🙏 I will contact you if I find a cut tree from a friend. Work is obtained with permission from the tree owner. The number of days is unknown, but one month to one year has passed. Long ones have been around for many years, but if they aren't cracking, they'll work!
You almost, cut the bottom of that one off! But it does make for a beautiful effect. The bright band around the bottom really makes, the entire pice, stand out
Thanks for your comment! I think there are people who want to see and people who do not want to see. However, there are few people who put thin, so I thin!
If the wood is still too wet, you can always try to microwave it on high for five minutes, or if you don't have a microwave (as I know they are not that common in Japan) bake it in the oven for 20-30 minutes to evaporate its water. I've seen another wood turning channel do that, David Adamsen. He microwaved the wood block and weighed it before and after to see how much water weight it lost.
Thanks for your comment!🙏 I did it before! The result is that small cracks become larger. In order to keep cracks as low as possible, it seems to be correct to install them in the shade without the wind!
Yes microwaving rough turnings works very well, Ive done it many times, and yes having a scale is very important. Just gotta be careful to not overcook it!
An amazing piece of timber turned into something beautiful, in shape and colour. Cutting it VERY thin towards the base of the vase sir, very close to a failure I think :)
FANTASTIC grain! Podocarpus Macrophyllus. That is going into my list of desirable wood for turning. Is it rare? Would it be costly to procure a specimen and have it shipped to the U.S.?
Beautiful as usual, but could you show how you sand so deep into the vase without breaking your fingers? いつものように美しいが、指を壊さずに花瓶の奥深くまでどのようにすり込むかを見せてもらえますか? Itsumo no yō ni utsukushī ga, yubi o kowasazu ni kabin no okufukaku made dono yō ni surikomu ka o misete moraemasu ka?
Thanks for your comment! Most of the time I won't crack because I finish it thin. Finish the thickness to less than 1cm. I like warpage because it is the vitality of wood, but what about?
Thank you for your comment!!🙏 5 / 8inch bowl gouge on the outside, 1 / 2inch spindle gouge on the finish. Hollowing is an iron rod that has a bowl gouge and a scraper chip that you have created.
@@YamabikoWoodArt I have turned a vase and another time a large bowl from fresh green tulip poplar and because it was turned with even thickness it did not crack. There was some warping but because it was 1 inch thick I went over again and the turnings turned out nice.
Если я сделаю это сейчас, думаю, я смогу оставить больше дна. Я рос каждый день с тех пор, как запустил RU-vid. Я очень доволен вашими комментариями.🙇🇯🇵
