I don't know whether you read the comments but you may find the following useful. I use Methylated (DNA) spirits to soften the glue and thereby reducing the risk of damaging the piece during removal. I have found it works well and doesn't discolour or harm the finish. Nice bowl.

Great turn, Lewis. I like your decision on the form redesign. At first I thought I liked the original, until you modified and improved it. That bottom feeder grind is so helpful for the final cuts and rounding the corner.

I happened across your channel mainly because I saw the green lathe which I’m assuming is a General 260? I bought one awhile back and the one I found was in just excellent shape. I bought it from the original owners son which his dad passed away and he no longer needed it. It’s in just tremendous shape and is a 2hp 220 with variable speed/forward reverse. Have yet to use it because I’m still in the process of building my retirement workshop. I will be following you from here on. Learned a lot and REALLY looking forward to this new to me tool.

Hi KC. I have found that denatured alcohol will get right under the hot glue and release your piece.

Awesome bowl, and I like your shape change! Quick question on procedure, why did you finish the outside with the sanding sealer and Yorkshire before finishing turning the inside of bowl? Why not put the sealer and grit on both once all the shaping is complete.

Nice birds eye wood bowl. I never understood why so many wood turners polished one side of the bowl, then finish turning the other side and then polish. Makes more since to me to complete all the turning , finishing and sanding on both sides, then apply the final finish. Invariably when I do it the other way, something on the side I finished first gets screwed up and I need to go back an fix things. Maybe that's just me with the problem.

Where do you get your wood you turn. Love the items you make too. I am in a wheel chair and wish I could go out and find wood for turning.

The Birdseye just sets that whole bowl off Lewis. Where do you get your Hut wax from I love the finish and sheen to gives your pieces. The chirping in the background was so sweet. Bet the chick's are getting big.

I had a problem with the HUT wax- neighbors had bought one of my Celtic-knot rolling pins- (Walnut w/ dogwood knot)"too pretty to use" so I made her one from oak as a gift and when she (hand) washed it the shine all came off :-( have you gotten any complaints about it?

That was interesting, especially your use of hot melt glue. I have a cheap glue gun and am considering upgrading. Is there one you recommend? I was looking at a Dremel 940 🌞

For the most part I love your videos. However, the most important parts are HOW you mount these pieces. If I can’t get something mounted, then watching you wield a bowl gouge with 20 years experience behind you does me no good. Every detail of your process is important to the beginner, which is who you have targeted this video. I think. If I am wrong and this video is targeted at 20 year bowl experts then I stand corrected.
