I rarely ever comment, but I wanted to tell you how much I love your commentary. I have watched other woodturners, but after watching you, I always come back to rewatch your videos because you explain what went wrong, how it didn't turn out to your vision, and how you problem solve. As an artist, I find it encouraging. Let's be real, it's not often that projects happen without incident. Painting, charcoal portraits, whatever the project, there's always something that happens. I find you inspiring. Thank you for sharing both the ups and downs of your process. Please don't ever stop.

Okay, this is gonna be a longer comment... sorry (kinda). First, you share your "failures", and self-stated pain, anguish and disappointment. I LOVE that. You keep it real and let the rest of us beginners know that if it happens, its okay and fixable (for the most part). Next, You EXPLAIN the process and give the whys behind it all. THANK YOU. Not everything is perfect, nor should it be. The length of the videos is perfect, because it shows the whole process and that, to me, is wildly interesting. I also dig that your explain about temperatures, since I'm in Colorado, it gets cold here, as it does in Canada. Lastly, final results?? STUNNING. Stunning, stunning, stunning. Did I mention it is STUNNING?? Its gorgeous. Side note, my nickname that an old friend gave me a while back is Kintsugi, because I've been through A LOT in life and I keep fixing myself into a better person, but keeping that perfectly imperfect. So, there you go. Thanks, Jim. Take care and Much Love from Colorado Springs!

Always show the "not what I intended" and how you deal with it. Nothing more frustrating for someone new or learning than only showing the perfect stuff. Tends to inspire the I can't attitude when everybody else seems to make it perfect every time.

It's something different and I loved it!! I also am glad you show your mistakes as well. You should! No none is perfect and it's important to see how different people handle different situations. I've said it before, but I'll reiterate that I think that the hollow forms are where you seem to just let yourself have fun and get really creative. Such a beautiful piece! The color difference between the bottom and the collar wood is so dynamic and adds so much beauty and character. When you first started to rough out the shape, the flat plane right below the collar was reminiscent of a Greek amphora and I got all excited. I would love to see that shape done at some point! Frankly, I don't mind the longer videos as they let us see the full process. I like seeing the mistakes and fixes, how you go about the whole thing. But I also really appreciate seeing the creative process others go through when they make a thing. All in all, another amazing creation ❤️

This one turned out to be a lot of work but turned out to be a fantastic bowl! Love the shape of this bowl and the spalting is beautiful! I appreciate seeing the speed bumps, as they come up, and what you do to resolve them. Agreed, helps everyone to learn. Thanks for sharing those with us.

Love how the hollow forms, with the large curve increases the grain variety. And, the spalting is amazing.

I've seen A LOT of turnings. A LOT! THIS piece WITH OUT a DOUBT, goes into my filing system inside the folder entitled "Exceptional Pieces"! I almost have everything that I need to get started as a brand new woodturner. I am VERY excited about getting started! Having watched many hundreds of turnings has inspired me tremendously! I aspire to be as good as you! This is one of 4 or 5 different styles that I'm hoping will manifest in my own work. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your talent with us! It's a beautiful thing to see in the process and SO VERY helpful in educating the rest of us out here! God bless you, your family and your work!

Just amazing. It seems the more tortured the wood you choose the better your result. In your hands anyway. Again, amazing amazing results from materiel that would have been considered garbage a few years ago. Thanks for the commentary as well. Can't wait for next week!

Designer epoxy I just found your channel two days ago and have watched several episodes. Really enjoying and getting anxious to get back into turning. I did a lot many decades ago and have a bowl lathe I used a DC motor to drive. I have a few thousand pounds of many varieties of wood I have collected over the years stored and live in Oregon now with forest property surrounding me... so lots of wood. Thank you for your style of vlog to include the difficulties that you have to figure out and overcome - I enjoy learning from your experiences.

I got a chuckle from you not liking how it was uneven between the wood and the shavings and thought to myself OCD much?😂😂😂 but know that I love watching a master at his craft! All of your videos have shown beautiful objects! Thank you for sharing your works with us!

Love the classic shape. The resin shavings are a very interesting focal point. The star for me is the spalting. That is just spectacular. The warmth and depth of this piece will make it a great focal point in any home. Definitely one of your finer works.👍

Hi Jim, a very nice piece once again. I really appreciate the « unplanned problems and solutions », keep putting them for viewing please: yes I learn out of them and appreciate it. I don’t remember turning one piece with resin without having to deal with unexpected results, even the final form often comes out better because of these. Great video, thanks once again.

Don’t stress too much on the analytics, RU-vid viewers are fickle. One week they’ll love something, next week hate it. 😅 I love your videos that show your process through learning new techniques, mistakes and all. I also love your voice overs. Personally, I’m not a fan of the sounds of just the turning because it’s so high pitched and sensory issues protest 😬 but, that’s just me. 🤗 I’m so excited to see your new shop I can hardly wait! ❤
