A local cherry tree that needed to be removed due to lack of space. I first thought it was too small to make something out of. I kept the trunk section where the limbs branched off hoping to find some interesting crotch grain. I was well rewarded and quite surprised to see how beautiful this piece turned out. The cut off limbs add a lot of character that I wasn’t expecting. I was also quite surprised at how hard that wood was. I did a little water pop between grits and that seemed to soften the wood and help the sanding.
