Woodturning - Walnut Dice tray with donor wood!

During the Christmas holidays we played Qwixx, a game with 6 dice. I thought it would be useful to make a small and simple tray for throwing the dice.
I made this tray from a piece of walnut (thanks Leo), but the edges where not high enough. So I used two pieces of offcut wood as donor to raise the edge. The tray has a diameter of 6 inches.
After sanding I put the tray in the oil. Only later the idea come up to stick felt on the bottom. I removed the oil from the bottom so that I got a good bond for the glue.
Let me know what you think of this dice tray. 👍

Hello frank, you made a beautiful dice tray. It is nice to see that you are also cutting your blanks in preparation and storing them in your workshop for later use. A good trick to save your sawn off pieces to repair missing parts. Cheers, Hans Stay safe and keep turning

Unfortunately I have a Tiny Workshop. Otherwise I would keep a lot more blanks inside. Thanks for watching Hans.

Thanks Luie. I'm glad this turned out so well. I will do this more often because this way you can make strange pieces of wood very useful again.

Prachtige dobbelbak Frank.

Somebody would to think "Eh, it's just a simple dice plate", but while watching You video I have seen a passion for woodturning, clever ideas, nice turning work and a piece of wood which will join the family. Excellent work, Frank 👌😊 Take care my friend 👍 Rav

Thank you for this kind word my friend. Woodturning is more than a hobby for me. I think for most of us woodturners. It is always nice to share in this community and be inspired. All the best to you and see you at the next turning👍 Frank.

Good job Frank, I like the idea of putting donor wood pieces into the natural indentation, I might have to use that idea, stay safe, John
