I kept this old, rotten and dry wood about 3 years. I found it on the street and just took it. 3 Years lated i decide to try to do something with it. I didn't even know what was going to happen, but i think that you will be surprised from the final result

Beautiful outcome but using a scraping method even if it’s a carbide tool is dangerous and leaves a very rough surface, especially when you hang the tool so far out from the rest. Use a variety of tools in a cutting/slicing technique for a much safer and easier and enjoyable approach, (ride the bevel on a bowl or spindle gouge for instance) especially in a piece that has grain running every which way like that. And to not wear a face shield is quite careless in reality. I’ve had a chuck jaw break off on me and it slammed into my shield and would certainly have damaged my face and possibly blinded me. Safety glasses at the least but really a good polycarbonate face shield should be mandatory if turning. I’m a very experienced turner and selective on wood I turn, but even a piece that seems sound can have a hidden crack and release shrapnel! Sometimes with disastrous results. Speaking from experience. You have only one pair of eyes. Be safe, take care!

Question from a newbie. How did u get the air bubbles out after u poured the solution? Was that some sort of a shaker? Didnt see u put it in a pressure pot. Thanks. Beautiful piece.

I am using vacuum pump with vacuum chamber. This is the best way for remove air bubbles, but its a longer procces. Thanks!

This is good but you don't have to have a vacuum. You definitely need a pressure pot. Don't waste your time without one. A vacuum pot does way more and better.

You can buy a cheap one at harbor freight and convert it. Maybe 60 bucks. It doesn't take a lot of pressure. But it's necessary for good results. If not. You will get tons of bubbles.

At 9:40 you can clearly see a safety mask, and in the part where he is not wearing a mask and glasses he’s looking down the end and out of the line of fire if it was to come apart.
