@@OctaviaBoesWifey if you don't keep growing your skills you're not growing your hourly rate. If you do, you do. Or could, at least. If you're employed at the same job doing the same things for 40 years you get eaten up by whatever life and the economy throws at you, but that's on you for the most part. You can easily do 25$ per hour if you're a half decent welder and that's a thing you can learn in a matter of weeks, or days even.

I sell my furniture builds on Facebook Marketplace. I don't sell these smalls. I give examples of what others are selling online like Etsy. I do plan on testing the smalls with my FB sales. For instance, have a console table for sale and throw in a serving tray for free.

I have spent $800 on tools and build whatever the customer wants including cabinets, tables etc.. Buy used tools. You don't need all the fancy stuff to be efficient. My tool collection is worth about $4,000. You just have to be thrifty, that's all

You’re 100% correct. You cannot accurately identify your profit margin until you carry the cost for your invested time. I think if this were to be truly a high profit margin item with a consistently strong return on investment, you would need to do batch runs.

If he was paying someone else, sure. You can't lose money on labor when you're the only person laboring.

If you want to have plenty for multiple jigs, I just found a 4-pack for 9 USD and a 12-pack for 21 USD. I don't have any yet either, but they're not a single use item. Depending on how you do the accounting for covering their cost, they can either be paid in full after your first project that sells, or if you're making 10, 20, or 100 of something...divide the cost of the clamps by how many pieces you're making to sell and include that amount in your materials cost until they're paid off. From that point on they're a zero cost item that is only making money for you...if you continue using them.

I agree. "80 cents worth of materials and under an hour of work", not considering tools, and selling for 25 dollars is good but not fast way to success good.

Just showing various ways to make some money. I never claimed one would get fast success. This is a great entry level project to get started in woodworking with, however.

Every tool this guy has had been paid for many times over I'm guessing, so it's completely fair to say the only cost here is material. Ones time doesn't factor in to these hobby projects. If that's the case everyone is losing money just typing a ridiculous reply.
