Woodworking: Wood Pixel Art

For years I've wanted to use wood squares of varying colors to create a picture. I've finally done it. Using 2110 squares of wood, 9 species, 25 color variations, and 38.5 hours, I have created my opus. The dog is my sweet Mattie Jane. This was truly a labor of love, because I'd never consider doing it again! It was way too much work! Video music is "Heads Up", "Warships", and "Not Impossible", all three by The 126ers. Logo design by Brandon Kettle. Filmed on the iPhone 10 with the iPhone camera stand.

Oh man! I sort of (but not really) wish I had not found this video! I think I may make one of these for my daughter (in college) of her beloved dog. As well, I am subscribing to your channel. I just love your creativity!

mr c, it is on hold temporarily. I have a friend who is a master fabricator, and he has volunteered to help me make a custom tube chassis for it. He is very busy, so I am waiting on him to get free to resume. I am definitely ready to move along on it. Thanks for the view and the comment!

How did you make the map /color chart part? Its like diamond dotz but i cant figure out how to do it lol

KelliJo, thanks so much for the view and comment. I used a free online program called Pixel Stitch. It allows you to upload your picture, tell it how many colors you want to use, as well as the number of stitches (pixels) and it calculates the rest. It will give you a layout and a color key that you can print. Good luck with your project. Thanks again.
