Nico being the only one that enjoys Dante's ceremonial weapon christening, even doing the pose and clapping, is probably one of my favourite parts of this game. She's pretty much just the fans as their own character.

Both literally and figuratively, with the thrashing he got from Vergil showing him how he needs to get stronger, starting the process of him accepting his father's heritage.
It's so fucking awesome. All these demons we slay over the years, all the weapons we get from them that bear their name (some of which even talk), I never thought we'd EVER get a fucking moment where Dante gets his very own Devil Sword. I can only imagine Sparda offering a proud nod of acknowledgement from afar.

I've seen reaction videos of streamers facepalming on Dante's MJ moment, while Woolie and Pat are enjoying every part of it. It's clear who are the real fans and which ones are playing this just for the Twitch views

Nero is still on the deadweight comment because as the scenes showed he is suffering from anxiety from his lost arm. Dante calling him deadweight is pretty much mocking his handicap in Nero's eyes.
Yamato's loose ability description reminds me of Yukari from Touhou. Her power is over borders and boundaries, including the boundary between fact and fiction.

SDT somehow manages to be Dante's most hype upgrade in a game where a motorcycle twin chainsaw Devil Arm and a cowboy hat that shoots meteors are also upgrades.
Pat is such a goober. Regular Devil Trigger is still super worth using because it provides you with regen and the special swords as well as nigh infinite Trickster stuff.
Yeah but SDT Advent movement tho. You're right though, DT is still top tier for all of the DSD style stuff, and the easier Quadruple S gain. They did make SDT the most busted shit in the world though, and SSSS is just giving the Railgun the ability to shoot nukes at will ever whatever few seconds.
@@Valanway the Swordmaster swords and super armor alone make regular DT worth using. For God's sake, when you use Real Impact, your DT swords will BRING ENEMIES CLOSER _AND HOLD THEM IN PLACE WHILE YOU USE IT._ As well as the fact that you can turn it on and off whenever you want as long as you have at least three bars. SDT can't be used until full and unless you have Quad S, you can't cancel it. And even Quad S locks you out of using all the REALLY damaging moves unless you commit to using the full bar.

Although a single Sin DSD combo from a Quad S is still more powerful than almost everything else Dante has, aside from a regular DT RI, which is fucking powerful, even with Distortion not really being a thing in 5, and a fully DT'd Dance Macabre. God, I don't know how they did it, but they made Swordmaster even stronger than it was in 3.
That whole thing with Nero not knowing about Vergil being his dad I always assumed that he thought Dante was his dad and that Dante just wasn’t ready to say it out loud. You can see that in how highly he thinks of Dante’s opinion of him. Plus, Dante gave Nero a sword that belonged to his brother saying they had to keep it in the family and then he gave Nero the neon DMC sign on the van welcoming Nero to the family business. It’s why it hits Nero that much harder later on when the truth comes out.
Nero always saw Dante as the closest thing to a father figure he's ever had, as Credo was more of an older brother, whom he lost and couldn't protect. But Nero was still unsure about Dante, and just assumed it was just an unspoken bloodless bond, and Dante wasn't even fully sure until he saw how Yamato reacted to Nero, as stated in this game. Nero went from an orphan punk outcast that lost half his foster family, to an adult with a new family and ties, to a person whose about to lose (as far as he knows) both of the last of his blood family that he never knew he had. Family issues runs in the Sparda family, and evidently, the whole Devil May Cry family bar Morrison.

It makes sense that the Rebellion combines man and devil, when Vergil stabbed him in 3 Dante's until then rejected Devil side bonded enough with his man side that he unlocked Devil Trigger, this is just a complete version of that and with Daddy's sword mixed in for that extra punch.
Devil Sword Sparda: Crazy Demonic Sword with a weird, twisted shape, but with some man made qualities via the Force Edge. Represents how Sparda awakened to his human side, aka woke up to justice. Devil Sword Dante: More closely resembles a more traditional looking great sword with clear demonic influences with the demon teeth and horn-like guard. Represents Dante's growth, as he originally hated all demons and rejected Sparda's heritage, but grew to accept his demonic side, and eventually embraced both his humanity and his lineage as a Son of Sparda. Could be talking out my butt, but either way, dat's a sick ass sword.
Origin of rebelion and yamato has been changed to be the other two thirds of Spardas power. Rebelion is probably the sword to combine the other parts. I wonder if it would do the trick with Yamato too.
@@GSSAGE7 You aren't the only one. Force Edge/Sparda, Rebellion, and Yamato; Sounga, Tessaiga, and Tenseiga. And of course, Sparda, Vergil, and Dante; The Great Dog Demon, Sesshoumaru, and Inuyasha. I feel DMC had a great of influence from Inuyasha.
@@TheOneAboveACoupleOfPeople Not surprising. While the manga/anime was ultimately disappointing after getting dragged out way too long, Inuyasha had solid concepts and ideas in it.
Sometime down the line Nero will start obtaining Devil Arms, and he will get two swords: The Dante and the Vergil. And combined them with the Red Queen and have the Nero.
I took it to be that in 3 it let him tap into his demon side by combining his bloodlines and rebellion impaled him and pierced sparda with the tip, thus combining him with it.
I like Pat's theory on Rebellion glueing shit together. The series had Dante and Vergil at opposite sides the whole time, with Vergil tending towards the demonic, being focused and goal driven, while Dante is more humanlike and laid back. This way, the swords reflect that. One separates, the other combines back. Almost as if their Father wanted them to work as a team.
I'm pretty sure the reason for Sparda's grandiose estate is because in between waking up to justice and settling down to have kids, make three swords, and then dying, he spent like 500 years as like a duke of some country in europe

(BTW, the answer to the DT Unlock in DMC 3 is pretty simple: It forced him to combine his inner demon that he rejects with his human half that he was, thus unlocking DT as he is now merged fully with both halves of himself unwillingly.)
I've started playing character action games thanks to your MG Revengance LP and played wonderful 101, Bayo 1+2, Killer is Dead, the ever so awesome Marlow Briggs but never Devil may cry. Now playing DMC5 as the first game in the series I feel like all those other game were just the tutorial for this. I still like the Story/cinematics of Bayo better but gameplay wise I feel overwhelmed by gameplay mechanics (in a good way). thanks for showing me this genre I guess. Even a scrub like me can me have smoking sexy style in these games.
If you haven't had the pleasure, in Yakuza 0 there's an item called the quick change clothes you can get early from achievement points which allows you to cancel every animation of not you being hit with a style change, and it's enough to make the game feel a lot like character action, even if it isn't in the strictest sense. IIRC Pat doesn't really futz with it in their lp, but with it on, kiryu can cancel brawler running dropkicks into rush combos into brawler combo into whatever else ad infinitum, and while in yakuza kiwami there's a couple cancel windows baked into your skill tree, it's not at all freeform like it is in 0. Kiwami even has a little end of fight results screen with bonus money for mini-achievements much like dmcv's end of mission reports.
7:08 Including rebellion, at the start of dmc 4, I say this not because I think it's an inconsistency but to raise the idea that sparda designed rebellion to release its full powers after it had been smashed to bits. A bit backwards of a design for most but I imagine being able to wake up in the morning, see something jabbed through your just and just smile because its probably Tuesday would go a long way in influencing weapon designs.
Now instead of people talking about “The Sparda” we will hear people begin to talk about “The Dante” and it will be glorious. Also the fact Rebellion can combine things leaves a *LOT* of possibilities for crazy ass shit for DMC 6 and the series going forward. Like just imagine what and what can start being combined?

Honestly, ever since vergil dropped on PC I've been going absolute ham on blood palace and mission re-runs. This LP is such a big embodiment of my ongoing hype.
The hat is a call back to an old Micheal Jackson video game on the SNES I think it was were throwing the hat was your only offensive move but doing so cost your life. Now it costs red orbs.
With all this lore on Yamato and Rebellion, I would love to see a DMC0 where you play as Sparda from before he awoke to justice to right before he dies, and see how he acquired them from their original demons. It'd be over the course of like 2000 years but it would still be cool.
to be specific, the Rebellion brings demon and human together while Yamato drives them apart. the reason Yamato opens portals and seperated V from Vergil, is cause it's doing it's conceptual power in different ways, but the route is always human away from devil. it's the same with his judgement cuts, it's dividing human world from demonic power (which would be floating in the air just by Vergil being in the area) is a small confined space resulting in dimension slashing. and it might have speed increase too, i dunno. maybe Vergil is just that insanely fast with straight forward movements. the rebellion brought out the demonic power within Dante in 3, thus bringing the human together with the demon. and i suppose if Dante took it to the conceptual limit, i suppose the rebellions ultimate power would have been crashing the human world and demon world together resulting in anarchy (hence the name for conflict, as it's ultimate power would cause it) but because the one who owns it (Dante) never wished for it, Rebellions power was never truely utilized. it's was jsut a really damn good sword. now for the Dante, it's safe to assume, as it absorbed the Rebellion, it has the power to bring demon and human together (and also cause Dante pretty much embodies what a demon and human is able to be) and as it has The Sparda's insane level of demonic energy as a base it would be an amazing power boost as well. but hey, this is just my thoughts on the whole thing. dont mind me.
