"The Adderall of gaming keyboards? Frank, I told you those Lekker switches aren't for snacking! 😩 Thanks for the great review! We're thrilled our hard work paid off, and must say, the 80HE does look really sexy in those clean b-roll shots. P.S. You were 2 hours too early for the embargo you naughty boy. 😶🌫
Seems pretty good, The non standard tkl layout is a bit odd, it doesn't sound top tier but its decent and it is a little on the expensive side for the zinc alloy case. Personally its not my favorite thing in the world, but for gaming performance and great software its gonna be hard to beat. Plus supporting a brand like wooting who actually take feedback and attempt to satisfy customers is cool
Got mine today. Swapped over to the 45g switches and it is the best board I have by a long shot now. I love me some classic cherry cooler master boards for affordable typing and wooting boards for gaming
I need a good recommendation for Mac. I need one that’s 100% (has to have a number pad of matching number bad separate) I’d like it to be silver metal to match the Apple athletic. Full metal heavy metal body.
They threw their "Universal Tray-mount" marketing right out of the window with this non-standard layout The outcry when they revealed this weird misc-mash of a layout, one unit longer than a regular 65/75 and one short from a regular TKL. People didn't buy your 60HE because they needed the arrow keys. They simply left their Wooting One customers high and dry after making a TKL and simply leaving them out of the experience of having HE switches. I was watching their videos about discussing the issues with 80HE and thinking they could fix it by simply moving that arrow key cluster 0.5u to the right is just... ugh
@@thrasher6752 he accidentally released the vid 2 hours before he was allowed to but unlisted the video and made it public again after the reviews were allowed to come out
Great video, mate! I've been using Keychron's Q1 HE for several months. It's been a fantastic keyboard in all respects -- build quality (emergency bludgeoning weapon if you run out of ammo during a zombie apocalypse), HE switches, 2.4GHz, to name a few. I think I'll pull the trigger on the 80HE to see if it improves on the Keychron.
I preordered mine in march and shipping has finally been anounced last Saturday, should be here by friday, right before i have 1 week of vacation, I'm so hyped
SOCD got banned by Valve in CS, bad example to use in the gameplay footage 😂but afaik Riot still allows it for Valorant, although Valorant doesn't have counter-strafing imbued as a mechanic in the game so it doesn't matter as much as it does in CS
I wouldn’t say it’s a “bad” example, when it literally shows it off so perfectly in execution that it was banned. I’d argue it’s the best example to show it off lol
Literally the best? Is that a joke? 300 dollars for paint to be stratched, mediocre sound (lekker switches sound way worse than gaterons ones), no gasket mount, no knob and boring gamery look? There is some big copium here.
What do you mean no gasket mount? It is gasket mounted. When you say mediocre sound what are you comparing to? I hope you're comparing to other HE keyboards otherwise your comparison is meaningless. No knob is a good thing, knobs suck. The case looks meh I'll agree.
@@The-Choo-Choo-Shoe well, the gasket mounting is shitty, providing nothing besides isolation from the case, other HE keyboards like the qk65 v2 and the q1HE absolutely blow the Wooting out of the water, and the option for a knob is never a bad thing. and yes, the case is ass
@@clarkettinger6958 The gasket was designed to isolate sound and for that it does what it was designed to do very well, it's pretty much a full around PCB gasket, ofc it's not going to flex. I've used the Q1 HE, it's pretty similar but I sent it back for 2 reasons, I don't like the knob, I haven't changed volume in over 10 years so I have no use for a knob ever. I'm also not a fan of wireless or even the option for it, that battery will die and swell eventually anyway.
Hi randomfrankp. I've been a long time subscriber since you had 10k subs. I've been looking for an 8khz keyboard that's metal and has optical/HE switches for a long time now and finally some have appeared that don't have that ugly "gamer" look like the razer and corsairs. You recently reviewed both the keyboards I was eyeballing. Do you think the new Wooting is better than the GMMK 3 pro or is the GMMK better? I'm stuck between these 2 as both of them have the features I want with customizable actuation and the works.
am i the only one who hates the sound off hall effect switches? along with the crazy price and mediocre build quality i think the wooting is one of the lowest ranking keyboards in my book. the only thing that is good about the wooting, is the software. besides that, you could build the same (or probably better) keyboard for half or even a third of the price
@@JakubixIsHereif ur willing to sacrifice for a slightly worst software, you could get a hall effect PCB for $30, a $30 switches, some $10 clones for keycaps, and a $30 case you could make a keyboard that is just as good as the wooting
200 for the plastic keybord is a damn good price. Wooting also has the best Linux support out of all other companies. Had to cancel my preorder cause I need a wireless keyboard, so ended up choosing Keychron Q1 HE instead. The Wooting customer support was awesome and everything was very easy with refunds and cancellation. Watching this review I just want to order again, just to support Wooting. :D
i totally agree , i had a change of heart too after i saw the keychron K2HE , i don't need 8k pooling rate . I'm not a competitive player . and the built quality is a must , even corsair has aluminum, body , why the plastic on 200 $ ?
This costs almost $400 in Canada for the plastic version which is just nuts. I ended up getting a MADE86 Pro instead just for $180 and performs the same anyways
Yeah it’s a crazy price for a plastic keyboard. I instead got myself a MADE86 keyboard from their kickstarter. Looks better and has the same performance
The 80HE does NOT run 8KHz straight out of the box. It runs at 1k giving ~1ms latency, and 8k is activated using tachyon mode in Wootility giving ~0.125ms latency
You can just put volumen to layer 2 and be cool. Anyone that encounters actuation problems. Go check if the gasket mount is seated corectly and then click in the swithes again. Sadly they shiped me the black instead of the ghost but actually it probably looks better since I have space keycaps that are dark blue.
It's a valid point. Frank spent a lot of time showing it off in CS specifically - He could have included a quick note about how it is currently a hot topic that's debated and banned in some games.
is the front edge flat enough to velcro something else onto it? I ask because the 60 HE + had a slanted flat edge that could not have something velcroed to it..
I dont think i ever get a transparent keyboard again Now here me out i think they cool ! but my cons ! is Dirt get inside the keyboard way to fast I Don't no how I keep my desk clean ! and yet i still see dirt in my keyboards so i half to clean my keyboard now so i think i just get a solid Black cooler as my keyboard
Not gonna lie, dude saying in the world of mass inflation. I really just wanted to stop listening. Keyboards have so many affordable options. The budget board line up trumps what would have been the $300-400 dollar market just 3 or 4 years ago. Also CSGO is a terrible example cause Vac is kicking people for that.
Bruh I really want it in metal since I've been waiting for a better layout to get a wooting but the CAD exchange rate is really fucking me up, I can't justify the $400+ price tag 💀 I'm a keeb enthusiast but crossing the 300 mark is hard to go above especially with QK and other budget enthusiast boards like the being so amazing for under 200
To be honest this keyboard is not to my liking. Transparent case make it looks cheap, and the typing sound is still a little too annoying for me. Switches maybe super advance can do this and that tricks other keyboards cannot, but still thats a 200$ plastic cheap looking keyboard! I am currently using Razer huntsman elite V2, I know people hate Razer now for whatever reason, But it's quieter, cheaper, and all white looks just nicer in my opinion. Great video Franky! Love it as usual.
Have mine on pre-order and it arrives in Nov. Can't wait! Already picked up a set of Jades and have a set of GUGU Black Knights on the way. Looking for that THOCK!
