Hey Pete, newly qualified enginner, still figuring out beat order of servicing different boilers etc. Would you conduct a FGA check and air integrity before removing the casing to do the fan pressure test or do that at the very end in your opinion? Great video! Thanks
Both mate. Well i do anyway. I always take initial readings with casing on - then readings with casing off and then readings when service complete. All equally important IMO.
@@petegasguy thanks bud, I had been taught the same, but some companies seem to think otherwise.. time saving rather than doing the job properly no doubt.
@@keithfraser5828 well if you have initial readings to work off then you know that your air/gas adjustment on gas valve have had the desired effect. Different with various boilers but some require case on and off readings. Same old tired line of ‘consult MI’s’ if in doubt
Hello Pete, I have one of the older WB 28cdi RCF circa 2010 machines, with a fan with no electronics just 3 terminals (two at one end of the exposed copper coil, and one at the other end of said coil) to which attach 3 wires (red, black, white) from the mainboard, due to my own stupidity, I've forgotten which goes to which, can you advise please?
Hi, Pete I need your advice, i was working on a Vokera Excel 29, when I created a call for heat by turning on the tap, the boiler fired and the pressure gauge started to leap about and go very high. I drained and did some checks and recreated the fault, turn on a tap, the boiler would fire, pressure very unstable and go high and the boiler would go to lockout. any ideas ?
1 - it’s a bloody vokera... 2 - does flow pipe get hot when there’s a h/w demand? (Diverter) 3 - plate hex potentially passing? That’s where i’d be at initially.
@@petegasguy reduced to doing gas safety checks for letting agencies which are allegedly "vital", money is only slightly better than nothing! what about you?
I am glad you found this video useful paulie... here to help if you need us! next up, tightness testing during a landlord safety certificate... and then how to find a solicitor when you get sued for saving a life 😂
Pete Combicert 🤦♂️ absolute madness I think boris Johnson made all the gas regs up do a tightness test don’t do a tightness test if you can’t do one then do one but don’t do one
Paul Smith yup - that’s blown my mind that has. reg36... absolute nonsense. i’m still doing it though. I would sooner be sued and know someones safe than read about their death in the local paper. just a thought
@@petegasguy if you followed 36.9 checks to the T loads of boilers would be AR. Unsafe situations pretty says AR unless the appliance is spilling pocs or there's a leak the it's ID. Still I prefer doing gas in apposed to electrics. When I'm do EICR's it's a mindf'k of regulations. Regs prevent us from making a situations safer. 🤦♂️ I'm picking up some great little pointers watching your vids pal. I honestly never thought of temp isolating gas supply pipework with JG to find leaks 👍
Hello Pete i have a worcester mt10rf combi boiler .... and it has developed a fault It still heats the Radiators and the water fine ...... just sound like the fan keeps cutting in every 20 minutes and vibrates hums like a B#tch night and day Even worse when you run the hot water..... i am only presuming it fan noise ..... i am not brave enough to remove the housing
Mt10rf is the thermostat - not boiler. Does the front of the boiler have an ‘eco’ buton? If so - press it until it lights and then let’s see if it kicks in every so often
@@petegasguy Thank you for your advise Paul ... they are coming out tomorrow morning Crazy thing is British Gas came out last Friday to do an annual service and replaced the thermostat on the downstairs wall and the sensor on the boiler because it wasn't not talking to each other ... and now it sounds like a tractor on tick over especially when you turn the hot water on :)
@@petegasguy Just a quick update the British Gas sent a repair man round this afternoon and he replaced the fan .... so my boiler is all quiet again now
