Word on Fire Bible - Part 1 - The Gospels  

I can’t even begin to absorb all the senses that hit me when I opened this box and saw what Word on Fire Catholic Ministries did with their two volume New Testament Word on Fire Series (5 Volume Old Testament Set to come). The beautiful pebble top grain leather and spine hubs are next level, especially for a Catholic Bible, whose audience has been long clamoring for high quality construction. Consistent with every Catholic publisher I have ever worked with, they got the gilding so right. On point like a mirror. But what really took me by surprise was the paper (printed in Italy). It is legitimately the thickest bible paper I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of bibles. If I were to guess I would say it is 80+ gsm and incredibly opaque (it appears to be coated). There is virtually no ghosting. The custom Angelo font is DARK. It is a single column layout in paragraph layout (font appears to be an 8-9 and super readable). The commentary layout takes a bit to get used to, but it features voices from the last 2,000 years of church history and includes special commentary from Bishop Robert Barron. Ancient voices are in cream color boxes, more modern voices are in gray boxes, while Bishop Barron’s commentary is set in double column, and his sermons are in single column on gray pages. Again, it takes getting used to for those familiar with traditional study bible layouts, but once it clicks, it is truly genius. It also features book introductions and stunning full color artwork. It’s simply too much to share in picture, writing, or video. It is like a full sensory explosion (minus taste, ha ha) You simply need to see it for yourself. It is called a “cathedral in print” and I have to say that’s an honest description. I’m looking forward to taking some time to digest this and give you your official Nickels Worth in video soon. That gilding is fire

I'm iffy about the NRSV, but it's the perfect translation for this edition, which is focused on evangelization. It's the easist reader out of the main formal translations, and the Protestant and Catholic versions use 100% the same text in the protocanon, which is an underrated feature.

I really want to get these just wondering are they a Smyth sewn binding? And for someone like me who isn't a Catholic is this still an ok read
