I explain how you can improve your listening and speaking skills in my video entitled 'Ask Minoo 3'.

This is the same as 'He had had dinner before he went out.' When the actor of both clauses are the same (in this case 'he/he'), you can drop one of the pronouns and use the gerund directly after the linking word (in this case 'before') . If the actors are different, you must form two complete sentences, one with Past Perfect and one with Past Simple.
@AngloLinkEnglish
@AngloLinkEnglish 12 лет назад
Your formulation of the question is perfectly correct. The formulation your friend has suggested is possible if we correct it to: 'For whom are the games made?' However, this alternative is very rarely used today and sounds like old or literary English.

It is a verb that forms questions or negatives in a specific tense. 'do' and 'does' are auxiliary verbs for the Present Simple Tense, 'did' for the Past Simple Tense etc.

One of my teaching techniques is to give students a sentence which they then have to transform into a) question b) negation. This has to be done orally to encourage a linguistic reflex, like a knee jerk. Even if they know the grammar they probably haven't developed this reflex. If they have the reflex they probably don't know the grammar behind it. So thanks again Minoo. This video has given me a lot of ideas to develop and improve this technique!!
@AngloLinkEnglish

My pleasure, Mark! Absolutely, building reflexes is the most important thing.

In American English, it is possible to say 'She just left.' In British English, the correct Tense is 'She has just left.' The abbreviation 'She's just left.' might make it hard to discern the Present Perfect while listening.

When the question is about the SUBJECT of your sentence, there is no inversion. This happens with 'who' and 'what' because they can ask about the SUBJECT or the OBJECT. For example: 'John spoke to Mary.' WHO SPOKE to Mary? John (the subject of the sentence). WHO DID John SPEAK to? Mary (the object of the sentence). 'The bus hit the tree.' WHAT HIT the tree? The bus (Subject). WHAT DID the bus HIT? The tree (Object).

In which lesson was it taught that the auxiliary 'will' takes priority over 'be' when moving the auxiliary to the front to make the question form? i.e. Sam will be back on Friday. Be Sam will back on Friday? (XXX) / Will Sam be back on Friday? When teaching students this formula, how do you avoid this confusion when all previous examples move the 'be' auxiliary to the front. What 'lesson' needs to precede this to timely address it?

That would sound very old-fashioned. In modern English, once you have separated the preposition form the question word (or linking word), 'whom' changes to 'who'.
