Wordle in a Minute - 27th July 2023 

This is a more relateable time to finish a Wordle!

Ever the generous soul, Mark gives us a week worth of minutes all at once! Thanks for another fun solve! And good morning, fellow EST crew.

I appreciate the fact that solve was totally uncut. It allowed us to all see into the struggle that happened with this word. Even the best in the world have a bad day every now and then, Mark. Don't let it get you down. Because, you know what? We all know you'll bounce back tomorrow. Or today, as the case may be. Thanks!

This is how Wordle goes every day for all of us mere mortals, Mark.

Does it say something that when I saw a 6 minute video, I just assumed that Mark had accidentally left the camera running (and something funny had happened). But no, this is actually a linguistic genius struggling like the rest of us mere mortals for once.

Very nice, Mark. (I don't care what your inner voice tells you - you did great)

When I'm really stuck, I take the known letters, use the letter "X" for the unknown letters, and try different arrangements. Many times that has help.

If only Mark had done the Dance Dance revolution challenge.. This would have been so much easier 😂

An epic struggle! Well done Mark. It's funny how even a common word can present massive problems if the initial guesses are unhelpful - I struggled for a similar amount of time with today's word, because I just couldn't think of the one word that would fit.

I didn’t know the word but after you played widow i was yelling disco for like 2 minutes 😂 I had quite a laugh, thank you!

I'm not a native speaker and I learn so many new words thanks to you. I have to say it was quiet nice that my simple vocabulary for once helped me see the answer faster than you. But still you shouldn't feel bad about this attempt at all. Sometimes our thinking is just too complicated and that's nothing to be embarrassed about!

Allthough I wish Mark all the best, it is fun to see him struggle once in a while just like I always do.

Mark’s opening word streak currently: ABLET BREAM COLEY DORAD ELVER Theme: 5-letter fish, alphabetically (DORAD stands for dorado) After the trials and tribulations of this Wordle, I’m guessing tomorrow’s word would be FLIER, a sunfish species from Southern USA

The pain of watching Mark think of two DI**O words at about the 2 minute mark but then going to another train of thought!

Beautiful episode...maybe even the best of all and I love this music on these longer episodes. The struggle is so real and relatable. Happens to all of us, not just in wordle but in life.

Was surprised that he three times tried words with either the wrong letter in the same place, or didn't have a D in it!

This solve had me on the edge of my seat for 6 minutes. The music really added to the tragedic feel 😂. If it makes you feel any better, I was thinking along, and also didn’t think of “disco” until you said it

I had so much trouble finding Disco that I guessed Cisco first. Jeez I felt dumb.

I was stumped once. The word that got me was "nanny".

I had to walk away from Wordle on this one before coming back a few hours later and finding the word. Very tough puzzle.

Well done. When the word doesn’t immediately spring to mind it’s very easy to get into a spiral of nonsense words.

I also particularly struggled with this one! For some reason I was caught up in trying to use F, but I always ended up wanting a T or N

So few options that he's got to get the exact word. Interestingly PIOUS is one of my two start words to expose the vowels.

Loved this one! I had forgotten the word till about 4 minutes into the video when he started saying "dingo.. no...". Really fun to watch the thought process

I think it's just an inherently hard word to get, I stared at it for ages as well.

After IDIOM I was convinced the answer was AUDIO. But it wasn’t. Don’t feel bad, Mark. Even one solve in less than a minute is rare among us regular folk, and you do it nearly every day.

Sorry for your struggle, but glad to see this video in the actual RU-vid subscription feed instead of the hellish new version of the Shorts category (maybe it's better for people using YT on a phone or tablet? it's completely awful on my laptop).

I couldn't remember the word myself even though I did the puzzle yesterday, and I still couldn't figure it out as I watched along lol. Sometimes just the remaining letters seem so odd you can't figure it out quickly!

The trouble is that the Disco is NOT a usual word for English word model, so it doesn't come to mind at once.

It's hilarious to see mark coming up with hundreds of obscure words i would not be able to find even with bifurication. Even the wordle doesn't accept it 😂

I’m so pleased when Mark fills in the three or four words, and gives me plenty of time to attempt to guess a possible next word, even if it isn’t the actual word.

The funny thing is that in a week or two Mark will solve the Times Monthly Special entering words that about three other people on the planet know. Don't worry Mark - you're not the only one who's done all they can to forget disco.

Not sure of how long I took to solve it, usually 2-3 minutes, but I got it in 5 words and was pleased with myself.

"Wait why isn't this a sho-oh no... it's 7 minutes long..."

I got super lucky on this one, probably the only time I'll get to watch this dude struggle more than I did. Feels good.

Lucked out with this one, as I'd been listening to the band Metric a lot lately, and their song Dead Disco. It is a rather unique word!

I had it in two. Lever->Disco

I was surprised to see DISCO used as an answer. I wasn't even sure it was an actual word. A tricky one for sure.

This one took me a while also - but I don’t play the “hard” version so I could use different letters each time. RINSE/OCTAL/DUMPY worked for me.

I had a similar journey with this word.

don't feel bad Mark, you're human just like the rest of us. funnily for me when i finally got disco, i misclicked and accidentally used my fifth guess to guess disci. i didn't even know that was a word. so it took me 6 guesses lmao

When you said RADIO for the fourth guess, you were so close to AUDIO, which would have worked!

This was a tough one for me too. I had to blow a guess for letter order.

This like when Drago was cut. Took me about 6 minutes to get in 4 tries. But I remember “Saturday Night Fever”, too.

SNORT > MOUSE > ADIOS > DISCO. I thought it was interesting that ADIOS was accepted.

That was a hard one. I guessed the word at 4:25ish, but had gone done a rather different set of potential words looking for one that could work.

I struggled to work this out as well. It too 5 guesses and at least 5 minutes. Guess 4 was CISCO because I didn't think of DISCO! 😥😥

I struggled with this one too. Weird structure of a word.

I got it in a rare 2. I always use S in second line and move everything to the front.

I needed the back of an envelope to work this one out. It was a toughie!

I randomly got this in 3 using the time tested "first word that pops into my head" strategy. Snail>Fishy>Disco

I got it in two… but I totally cheated. I accidentally saw the gal next to me on the bus play her first guess before I thought to look away 😅

I used sioux near the end. I also made two silly errors. I struggled for an hour, left it, went back and ginally got it in 5. Conclusion: 6 minutes is pretty good!!
