I love that you're able to go into detail about what it is you actually do as an economist, it's interesting to learn about! I've had similar jobs with taking minutes and being intimidated by other people, it definitely just takes practice! Good teams should want to help you improve, and everyone starts from somewhere, so don't feel bad :)
Yes they definitely do want to help me improve, they’re a great team and we have a very nice supervisor. I just need to get used to feeling confused and uncomfortable, apparently that’s normal in our 20s? Haha. By now I thought I’d be finishing up law/grad school and now Im just lost in the sauce about what I want to do- that’s life I guess.
@@SelenaTrevino That's totally normal! A big secret to life after school is that you've gotta stop comparing yourself to where you thought you would be or thought you wanted to be. Life throws so many curveballs at you, your interest and priorities change, opportunities come up that you never thought you'd want or need to take, and that's just ok! You're kicking butt in your career! It takes a lot of trial and error figuring out what you really want/need, but all that is is healthy growth :)
@@SelenaTrevino Just remember that like you're totally different than you were at 5 and 10 years old, you're gonna be a lot different at 30, 40, etc. there's no way you can predict what you "should" be doing so try to not be too hard on yourself about planning and trying to do everything exactly "right" :)

That’s one thing I love about my new job, it seems like a greater majority of my coworkers are females/minorities and it makes me feel so much better every time I clock in! Lol

I work for a healthcare company in the billing department! Also my company name is centene, they have inclusions groups for different people: veterans, women, LBGTQ, POC and there’s one more but I forget. I’m going to join the POC one once my 90 days is up and see what it’s about!
My experience was overall good- it was really hard since I had 2-3 jobs and was highly active in organizations but I enjoyed learning about so many different aspects of economics.

I hope more political operatives, lobbyists, fundraisers, policy wonks and economists start vlogging because I think we have the coolest careers and there's such little visibility - you never really know if you're as productive as your peers are
I wish! Though I don’t see it happening unfortunately. Especially those who work for the gov! I looked for months for another economist before I landed my first job in economics and never found one that was work/lifestyle related and just a person being themselves! That’s the content I crave so that’s why I make that type of content! But I agree, I’d love to see more careers/people vlog their lives, it would be so helpful!
Though I must say you can’t really tell how productive someone is by a vlog. It’s an edited part of our day and curated to tell our story. If that makes sense! Like I mainly vlog before work, during breaks and after work!
YEEES! I am in my first year in this position and mostly everyone else is a seasoned economist, so while we may have the same title we have very different experiences. So I'm still trying to navigate that :) thank you for sharing!!
it is definitely stressful and it can be challenging, but for some people it's worth it! it definitely depends on your goals and work/life balance hopes
