I just retired from an airline. The beginning of my career in reservations, I missed a lot of holidays and some birthday's however, my husband and daughter understood. It was a rewarding career and I don't regret a moment of working there. You have to love the job!!!!
Hey FlyJV, great advise. Especially the part about dating. I’m lucky I found a wife that understands my schedule, who is also independent on her own, has her own hobbies. But I have plenty of female friends who can’t do a few hours without their boyfriend. So, once you find that girl who puts up with your schedule. Lock her down 😅
The part where you said "Think 1 step ahead instead of 10 steps ahead" really hit. Overall , you answered most of the questions that were stuck in my head and I feel more motivated. Thank you, keep these bangers coming 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for letting us know. I’m a student pilot and what you are explaining is not a far stretch from OTR truck driving. Job and industry is definitely a lonely one. Flying and driving parallel each other.
That was inspirational; passionate. I appreciate you. You don't just tow the line about what a glorious job it is, you share the reality in an authentic way.
I want to become an airline pilot because I have an interest in flying and having a job which you enjoy makes it interesting. It also shows how hard working you are.
Q: Why do you want to Become an Airline Pilot? A: It was my childhood... dream until now, I love airplanes, still amazed how those big things fly, I wanna learn all the controls inside the cockpit, travel around world, I wanna watch the clouds below me, watch the sunrise and sunset, and high salary HAHAHAHA
Loved this video which I stumbled on over a Sunday morning at home in California. So reminds me of the things I used to think about as a young man before I got into this business, the only work I have ever done. Being a pilot for 37 years has been beyond rewarding. I have seen places and made friends all over the world . Yes it's true I missed family functions and even a few birthdays over the years for my kids but I always called them and made sure I brought them something back from my travels. The credit has to go largely to our wives who know and fully understand the work we do. Keep it up. You're still young and will have a long career, hopefully soon in the left seat. Best wishes JV
I've just got my Medical and signed up for flight school! 😍 So thank you SO MUCH for each of your videos and each advice! They're so helpful and always a good motivation and preparation! Keep them coming! Greetings from Germany 💪👍
JV, great video! So wonderful to see you explain the grind that comes with what we do. As you know, this is a very rewarding career. I believe that your commentary will touch the right guys and girls that we need in this industry. Folks that look LIKE US will be empowered and blessed by your material. Please don’t stop sir. I’m very very proud of you and I’ll put some stuff out there soon. Take care JV!
Jason a quick suggestion maybe if you’re bored and have nothing to do you could do live-streams socialising with this community or even aviation lessons to help the new generation of pilots 👍💯
@@FlyJV For me airline pilot has been a long time passion and I have always wanted to be one and also I have loved aircraft from such a young age at the age of 4 and I’m 21 years old and still love aircraft. Plus my main intention of being a pilot is for the passion only. My intentions are not on materialism I.e. attracting beautiful girls, fast cars and luxurious homes. This is life in the fast lane and I don’t like it. I prefer a life that is humble and have a roof over your head and a automotive to get you different places that’s more than enough for me! The end intention is only for the sake of the aviation passion and gaining experience in many different types of aircraft other than fixed wing. Rotary aircraft is on par with fixed wing aircraft, this is the real passion by which you can really sculpt your aerial dexterity and your stick and rudder skills. There was a famous aviator by the name of Bob hoover which he was nicknamed as stick and rudder man he flew over 160 different types of aircraft since he first got his pilot license
I want to become an airline pilot because It's just my dream... ❤️I've been passionate about aviation since I was a child. I also love to travel , discovering the world! 😍
FlyJV to be honest life events are insignificant to me in compared to the life of an airline pilot! But nothing supersedes family time regardless of how awesome the job is even if it’s a pilots job. But pilot life supersedes dating life (this is my perspective) many people have many different thoughts Thou I can’t lie Jason you are one of the coolest role models I have ever seen!! Love your videos and you as a person my dear friend! 👌😉
@@ahmadtheaviationlover1937 Appreciate the love my friend and that's a great spirit you have, thank you for watching and I'm glad you find the content valuable
Hi FlyJV Im Carlton and Im currently a Student Pilot who just started flight Training Thank you for the Video What i wanted to do is just fly whether is an airline or bush flying im just passionate about flying and im on the Integrated CPL IR/ME and what i learned from you is Date someone who understands the position of your job as an Airline Pilot Thank you love from SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦
Military life is good preparation for pilot life. Being flexible yet prepared for situations. No control over location and schedule. Staying in shape and focused. US Army vet and Army wife🇺🇲🇺🇲👍🏼✈️
Hi Jason, thank you so much for this video. It must have been the most transparent and straightforward view of what it's really like to work as a pilot that I've seen so far. I really liked the fact that you went through the cons trying to be respectful and accepting that this profession may not be for everyone and that's ok.
Jason well done on your journey so far. We are proud of you and your achievements. You have a wise head and am glad you are a positive light and inspiration to many. Keep it up and best for the future.
absolutely loved the video, 21 right now and needed this type of motivation and discussion from you since im considering making a big change in my life to start flight school, keep up the energy💪🏽💪🏽
I’ve been flying since I was 9 months old. Ever since then I have been completely in love with it. A few years ago I realized I wanted to pursue it as a job. Thank you for this and all your videos. It is nice to have a pilot out there giving advice and looking out for you. ❤️❤️ ✈️ ✈️
FlyJV, I can't even begin to describe what killer advice you gave here. Life changing tips if people had the wisdom to listen to it. Loved the idea of being just 1 step ahead. It's very easy to worry about the future and overanalyze everything, but its about remaining in the present. Thank you bro, this wisdom is invaluable!
Social life was a really true life experience I have had in the past. Having friends I don't share ideologies with made me water down my aim for greatness just to have a crew. I had to pull myself away by the grace of God. Iron sharpens iron and being in the midst of "plastic minds" is not good.
I want to be a pilot because not only do I love this job I also enjoy doing it and I believe that I am ready to take full responsibility of my passengers and I fill like I can also learn from your other captains in your airline in order to teach other pilots that may also work with me one day.
Great message. I commend you for the clarity in your outpouring. Keep it up! I am a an aviation fine and hearing a pilot define this career as soundly as you do, makes me happy and balanced .
Hey JV, not only you get one more subscriber (I’m completely sold by your videos, particularly this one which was really motivational) but also, I am glad that I have found someone who understands me when it comes to dating as a pilot. I am currently on my way to become a Pilot Instructor and not only it is time consuming but it requires a lot of focus and that doesn’t leave me enough time for dating. But I am confident that I’ll find that special someone.
Found your channel this weekend. Great video. I will share with many people about those life lessons. Especially about relationships...100% correct. I would like for you for put a clear background on your fonts or change it to make it easier to read on screen. You are a great inspiration even though I am only a flightsim pilot and a real life web developer. All the best to you and your career...
Hey pilot, you have asked a question in the video. A question I really find interesting and when asked by an aviatior, I need to answer it. The reason behind why I want to become a pilot is firstly because it has been my life-long dream, passion and obsession. Furthermore, I’m in love with the sense of responsibility it has as a job. Morever, Aviation and airmanship have been the guiding light for me in these dark days, I consider aviation and professional aviators such as yourself my daily motivation! And to reinforce my point and justify it, I have enhanced my aviation knowledge and read many books&articles about aviation. I am an 11th grader with a O level by the way. Wish myself and you a bright future in this career and a good day. I’d be delighted to read your reply!
i worked for 3 years in a large central control room where i had to monitor a lot of systems report and fix as much as i can errors and provide information to technicians and i liked it;and i see that piloting an airliner is similiar in a lot of ways but add the stuning view and you go from place to place even if you dont stay a lot i still find it awesome and i really like complex systems adrenaline and communication teamwork
I wants to be a pilot because i want to be happy and not be miserable on my days off because I know I have to work the next day my point is I don’t want to see work as work
Straight up Love and Passion bro, was a dream of mine since 4 years old. Never giving up on Aviation !! Thanks for the vid loved it! Josiah👨✈️;) #Pilotlife#AVGeek#FlyJV#FlyJVCrew
I'm going to school to be an aircraft mechanic. I was told to do this, and later pay for flight training, but I think this isnt a good idea because of señority. I really think I'm going straight to flight school after getting my A&P. Sure the debt will be there, but whatever it takes, I have to do what I have to do. Like Charles Bukowski said, if you're going to try, go all the way.
15.40 you are so inspirational. I would love my son to be a pilot, but most of all I want him to be happy. Your advice can be applied to life in general. You seem so young to be so wise. God bless you. Thanks RU-vid for the recommendation, I have subscribed and shared. Keep up the great work @flyjv
Thanks for watching. Depends on the week, can be anywhere between 2 to 5 days a week because not all flights are overnight or layovers. During extreme weeks you might not sleep at home at all.
I want to be a pilot because I love aviation and aspire to help people travel around the word and for the adventure (is that a good reason or should i change my career path?)
This is a very use full video! It’s like everythingI needed to be told! I have to focus in the present to build the future I want! And I am okay with all of these situations because I love aviation and I feel passion for it! I want to become an airline pilot 👨✈️❤️
In this world everyone's office is at ground but I want to make my office at 36000 feet as my limit is beyond the sky. The love for aviation, the passion for flying motivates me to become a pilot. Hope to see u soon in the cockpit captain👮.
I want to become an airline pilot because I really like airplanes they are really cool and pilots get to fly them that is awesome so that’s why I want to be a airline pilot
I have to be honest. That "being 10 steps ahead" tip you mentioned I can totally relate to in my life and probably had the biggest impact in this video for me. When I was little, I was always a bit sceptical if I wanted to be a pilot or not. But after attending boarding school, which had aviation as one of its classes, I'm 100% certain that it's the right choice for me. I began flying glider planes last year and still aiming for the glider pilot license. I also began focusing on myself a lot more in fitness, meditation and healthy habits in general. My plan is to take my education at Center Air Pilot Academy in Denmark after high school. Thanks for another amazing video bro 👌 Wish you the best 💯💯🔥🔥
@@FlyJV when you were talking about your hobbies I always thought pilots live to work & didn’t have other hobbies like boxing as you showing in the video & working out
@@YOURARENOTYOURTHOUGHTS i think it is important to have a hobby that promotes cardiovascular health and building muscle as well if possible, it is fun to me and also makes me feel and look good
@@FlyJV mann I agree with you aswell I used to eat a lot & gained a lot of weight which motivated be to start working out it made me feel so much better like slot of weight has been lifted off my shoulders
@@YOURARENOTYOURTHOUGHTS happy to hear that, well done! And the more you improve in that way the more you feel motivated to continue because you enjoy the process, keep going bro!
