Thanks for writing man...it has been impressive to watch things develop over the past couple years...between the work you are doing with Zeke and now his collaboration with Work Tuff. You guys have a great community and some loyal supporters. This was a fun project to encompass all of that in one time piece!!
Fantastic blade! You know a design is good when it calls to mind other great blades. This one made me think of my Aranyik Packanep - packable size Enep. There are many differences, but the versatility of it, the broad blade, the curve that facilitates chopping and slicing, the multi-position handle, and the piercing capacity all make it a favorite for woods work for me. This Nomad has all those elements, but with much better materials, handle design, fit and finish, and sheath. Plus it has a flat-ish portion that can do draw cuts, which is one of the weaknesses of the Packanep. Outstanding tool! I would definitely like to see a thinner version, but I agree with Zeke - not 1/8" - more like 3/16". That thickness would retain a lot of the chopping power, but allow for a more refined edge for smaller tasks. Not least, I would love to see this (and other Work Tuff knives) in a stainless steel. The SK85 takes a wicked edge, but I live in hot, humid, often salty conditions, so maintenance of that steel requires constant attention.
Yeah, the SK85 can definitely rust a bit, but the patina helps with that as well. I think the toughness definitely helps offset the rust potential. But their K110 is the sweet spot between carbon and stainless. Maybe a version in that steel?
Thank you Zeke for the design and interview, thank you Victor Lin for making the design a reality and thank you guys for your passion and about the Nomad. I can attest to what you guys said about the Nomad. I owned one and it's number 024. Love the heft of the blade and the angle - it just drops, cuts and chops. The handgrip positions make the big blade more versatile tool. If you're into big-blade and a chopper, get one Work Tuff Gear Nomad!
the problem with the feathersticking wasnt the knife...it was that wood, imo. I rocked some very nice, fine curls with mine. I'll put out a video soon, you'll see. Awesome video, great review, fantastic knife...best in its class 2020 without a doubt.
Thanks for writing...absolutely the wood makes a difference. It's not that we "struggled" to make feathersticks...the only comment is that it wasn't designed to feather stick like a small belt knife....and how could it. All things considered it carved well and definitely gets the job done on all fronts!
Thanks! I appreciate it! I put huge effort into my channel and try to make content that differentiates me from most other reviewers. It's work I love to do. Thanks for joining and reach out any time!
Dude your killing it with these interviews , they add so much to knife review and it really sets your channel apart from other reviewers. Keep up the good work man
Thanks...I love the interviews. It's a hard skill to learn...my most recent are definitely more polished, but it's great to see the people behind the designs!
I have one of the nomad prototypes and I LOVE it. This knife does everything, definitely a Jack of all trades. If I could only ever have one knife the nomad would be my go to. And Zeke is an alright guy too ;)
I wonder if the prototype is exactly the same as the production run that I have. Apart from finish it looks to be pretty much the same. I love that knife...such a work of art!
Morning Eric. Did you and Dave experience any issues with the M4 screws coming loose? Possibly you have gotten the newer QC with Loctite screws and an extra bag of M4’s. Messaged Zeke earlier about how fantastic the Nomad is and can’t wait for the companion field knife. Finally found an hour free to watch the interview. Great job. Love your channel.
Thanks! No, no issues with the screws loosening up. You saw pretty much the full extent of the work that knife has done to date. I haven't had a chance to get it out any more than that just yet. But yeah man, that thing is a gorgeous blade...the companion will be fun! I appreciate the viewership and comments!
Beautiful blade but I’d probably wait to see what the thinner one looks like though. Like always I’ll trade ya for the one you have 😘. I’d love to see them go 80crv2 I like 3v but it can be a pain to resharpen especially in the field love the sk-85 pick sharpens easy gets really sharp holds a good edge and fairly cheap compared to the cpm steels.
Hard to get your hands on them right this minute. If you're in the US, Work Tuff sells mainly off of Amazon. Keep an eye on Amazon for their available blades.
The more I see of these Work Tuff Knives the more I like them. Where do you get these? I have never actually seen one, you can't get something like that where I live. In fact you can't get much here. There are no friendly outdoor stores that handle a selection of knives like this. Recently, past few years we have a Cabelas that came to town but that's the best we have and that was a long time coming. Most knives I have gotten from the USA in the mail. It ends up costing a lot more than the knife sometimes. Really impressed with this knife, my kind of blade. It's on my list. Thanks for introducing it to us.
Most of the knives that are worth buying aren't found in retail brick and mortar stores. Of course that is a general statement and not 100% true...but my personal favorite knives are bought at online retailers or direct from the manufacturer. Work Tuff sells direct, or also on Amazon depending on your region. You should hop onto Work Tuff's website to check what they have for available blades. The Nomad's sell out almost instantaneously.
@@outerlimitless Most of the knives I have, I either got from individual USA retailers that handle what I was specifically looking for or I shopped for it myself in person on trips to the USA. Like I spent a whack of money at Smoky Mountain Knife Works last November 2019. I have a lot of knives that I have never seen here where I live, Ontario Canada. I will most definitely follow your advice and checkout their website. I hope they are willing to ship out of the USA, a lot of sellers don't. Thanks for your response and the information I needed to hear. All the best.
That jacket is the Fjallraven Forest Jacket No. 3. It is discontinued and very hard to find. It is also extremely expensive...$600+ . I just got lucky and found one for cheap that fit me. It was a serious lucky score.
Pumped for the large version. Just ordered the standard Nomad. Would even like a 15-16 in cutting edge on the big fella. Need more leverage to get that zombie head off clean....when the time comes.
2 hand monster would be craaazy...I just talked to Zeke a few days ago. The two hand version will come out, but a few projects ahead of that one first!
Thanks!! I just happened to have sold one with nuke! Please feel free to reach out via email if you would like to make one custom. I have a large batch currently in the works with many options including different Voodoo scales that are pretty amazing! Thanks for watching!
well I apparently commented under Earl B...lol, semi-public computer. So as y'all read his comments, know its really Amish Jon...and not a large black man:)
They sell on Amazon, but they sell super quick. You're best to follow Work Tuff on Instagram to get an idea about possible release dates. They seem to have just finished a batch.
Wow I actually just found out about this way 2 days ago and of course when I went to buy one they are sold out. It looks like an amazing blade there is a guy on one of the night sights trying to sell his for $500. thank you for the great information I've always Eric have a blessed day brother
Thanks man...yeah, this knife is a beast. They sell fast, but the good news is that they have been making more for a larger production run...each run has had slighty different finishes too. It's a cool knife for sure!
@@tommysoderholm8305 Yes...this will stay in my collection for sure! It is there for good I would say! But hang tight for more details...you'll see more from Zeke very very soon...Work Tuff is hard at work as we speak! Keep watching closely because these things will sell fast!
Nice looking knife, but not my style. I don't like knives that large and heavy. I'd rather carry a hatchet. My ESEE 6 does everything I have needed and it isn't that massive. Different strokes for different folks.
All depends on your preferred blade system. You wouldnt carry an axe with this blade, not even a small blade...maybe a saw, but its meant to be a one-tool option. while its not everybody's thing, its how I roll.
Thanks for the video. Thumbs up. But next time please find a real baton. You made the knife look bad by batoning with a piece of kindling. Come on man.
