This house rehab is taking a lot longer than some of us expected...well, not me ;). We are starting to see a lot of progress though and we are starting to figure out what our homestead is going to look like.

Hi Melanie, glad to see you back. My husband and I bought a five acre property in southern Florida about a year ago. We had the same thing happen to us.( AC died .) Actually, it never worked. The motor came on for the house inspection but it didn't function. We have a house on stilts, ( it floods here) So the AC was on a pedestal about seven feet tall. Our armadillo was digging out the leg of it. We ended up buying a "split system" AC and tearing out all the dog hair and vermin infested duct work. The split system is much cheaper and can be made to work with a de humidifier. Also, no air blowing up thru ducts under the house. (Mold source) . There's a number of supply places called "Mobil Home Depot" that have stuff for mobil homes in Florida. (?) you have a double wide? Lots of things meant for regular houses don't fit in a manufactured home. Hope you are able to get what you need quickly without spending a fortune. Blessings, Sue
Yeah, that ac has been a problem. It was repaired before we closed on the house last year. It ended up being a fairly cheap fix thank goodness! Florida has been great so far, but it is definitely not a place that I am ready to be without ac in 😂.

I think it's fun to learn new things :) I taught myself how to use the drill this year! It's fun when you can use those skills to better reach your goals! My daughter painted her room this summer too...the old fashioned way with rollers. I let her have a "painting party" she invited like 3 friends and they all pitched in! My husband does HVAC. It may be a bit pricey :( you need a technician. It may take time but it's yours and you have all the time now!
Well done on the new skills! I think it is awesome to learn new things and to better yourself with new skills. Yeah, I to one look at the hvac system and knew I had no hope of figuring it out (my first time looking at one). The repair man was honest and he diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes. It was an easy and fairly cheap fix.
It took me a few days to catch up on all my YT videos, but I finally did. I'm glad to see you moving along with the renovation .. too bad about the HVAC ... I take it the AC guy got you all straightened out. I usually don't tackle HVAC issues on my own ... I'm just not that knowledgeable. Welcome to the hot and muggy Florida weather ... if you don't like it, wait a little while and it will change. I used to think Florida had bi-polar weather, but I am now convinced it's tri-polar! I don't want to scare you, but two mammals carry leprosy .. one of them is an armadillo ... the other is human. Possums on the other hand are cool, they eat ticks and are immune to rabies.
If that A/C isn't working off R-410A it would be worth the payment on a new system that does. When we replaced ours with a 14 SEER Trane, the power bill went down $100/month. Repairs to the old system, if it needs coolant will cost $400+ and it's better to put the money in a reliable system. Rather than texture the walls unless you like that look, look into skim coating with a Magic Trowel. You basically thin compound to pancake batter and roll it on with a paint roller. Then you squeegee it with the Magic Trowel. I got mine at Sherwin Williams. Do a search on RU-vid for the technique. The best one was a woman doing it. I did my sons room a couple of years ago and it's smooth and was so easy. I only had to buy the Trowel and it required, almost no sanding.
We did just that. I think it is in the next video 😉. We never caught him though, but he hasn't tried to get back under the house, so I guess we are in a truce 😁.
