WP and the Opposition party. I salute you for the courage to fight for the people of Singapore. without you we will suffer more.My family will vote you. Will support you all the way to the end. GOD BLESS YOU
Young spirited qualified Singaporeans are needed for true leadership renewal. WP has a good crop of them. Keep up the momentum. Well done! Not for big money, not for self-interests but for Singaporeans.
I voting for the first time and i am taking it quite seriously. Should the worker's party come to power, can they deliver what they promise. Actions speak louder than words. We live in a prosperous nation so much so many of us take it for granted. I agree that different voices in parliament is good and constructive but i also appreciate the good work the ruling party has done for us. We are a small country and that will forever remain a fact and what comes free in this world we live in. I admit that i have never ventured to get married as starting a family requires alot of money but as i once came from a needy family and it is thanks to MOE that i completed my 12 years series. Both the PAP & WP have their bad points and good points but i hope they both have Singaporeans interest at heart at the end of all this. May the best party win and I hope Singapore has an even brighter tmw and another glorious 50 years ahead.
I always remind myself a country is at stake. True the people are important but the well being of the country is also important. A PAP supporter will say bad things of the Worker's Party and A WP supporter will say bad things about the PAP. We say bad things about the PAP but we cannot ignore the prosperity we enjoyed thanks to their leadership. Just look at other parts of the world when an entire family has to sleep without shelter, do we see that in Singapore. My father is a prime example, he owes the HDB for a few years yet they give him time and have not kicked him out. I am sorry to those who love the WP but I still have faith in the PAP, any place you are expected to have competition, politics is no better. If the WP takes to power, they should at least explain how they are going to it, what policies are they going to enforce to make what they say come true.
+Yukiko Liu - Given the so many bad mouthing and negative comments on PAP, I am heartened to see fair comments from Yukiko. Sometime, after reading those anti-PAP comments, I wonder whether those guys who wrote it know what they want for themselves and for the country. Yes, the PAP government is imperfect, but on the whole, they have done significantly more good than bad for Singapore. I hope we indeed will have another glorious 50 years.
It is exactly the meritocracy system which allows someone from a low-income family to get into polytechnic and university through hard work... this Jiaxi shd thank the government for running such a country which allows him to have a bright future
WP ...never reach that respectable position. They have not prove themselves to be worthy.I always view Parliament debate this is how I understand and knew about.
common sense applies to having a credible alternative party in singapore. it benefits the people more to have more alternatives. it's a practical to have a back up plan. it lies with us the people.
I'm sorry. Taking the PSLE system away seems to be an extremely flawed idea in general. The reason Singapore has taken such a rigid stance on education is due to the lack of resources in general within Singapore. The only resource available is manpower as such it is paramount from a survival stand point that as many citizens are trained as possible. Granted, the PSLE system has its flaws and changes do need to be made, but taking it away completely would be detrimental. The proposal to change the system to be more accommodating is very nice and idealistic, and if it can be achieved then I'd say go for it. But as it is the idea is not feasible. The government is already putting a large sum of its funding into education as it is. If in already investing so much money, the limit is still 40 per class instead of 20 as proposed, more money has to be invested that has to come from somewhere. And that would disable Singapore's stance on low taxes. Lastly, I admit that the PSLE, O level and whichever systems present in the education system tend to discriminate against those who are not academically inclined. It is also true that it doesn't make them worthless, just that they excel in other areas. However, such things exist already. There is a place called School of the Arts that accepts students based not on results but their performance in the respective arts. The ITE system provides those with less academic inclination with the skills to work in the industry, and without those people society wouldn't function. They can learn real skills like cooking, electronics and other things that will enable them to make a living. So at the end of the day, its not as if only the elite of the elite can succeed in Singapore. All are provided for.
So sad that there are still so many uncouth, boorish supporters in Singapore. I wish that these people are not Singaporeans. I can only think that these people are here to stir up trouble, create divisive principles to Singapore.
