Carpet cleaning company came through my place with this ancient looking beast and it pulled about 2lbs of fine dust out of my carpets before they steam cleaned it, simply amazing!

My CMS 2000 cost me $1000 in 1993 and it is still working well with no major repairs ever required. It would have cost me approx $200 for service and replacement of belt and hose - the suction of dirt and sand out of old flattened carpets is amazing. The carpets have always looked better than when we moved in with pile lifted.

My Grandparents were Amway dealers back in the 90’s. They purchased the ClearTrak when it first came out. This machine is still used weekly nearly 30 years later with proper care and maintenance. I have taken their machine to other people’s homes and pulled out mass amounts of fine dust and debris. Sometimes I forget it works so well until I take to to another home with a box box store branded vacuum cleaner. One modification I made from a video I saw on here from Ron Werner, put some weatherstripping around the filter tray where it slides into the body of the vacuum. I found the filtration to be much better. Long hair used to slip between the plastics and get caught in the exhaust. That does not happen anymore.

Thanks for the great demo and commentary. Fyi, the little white filters below the black sponge filter is in fact a HEPA filter. Responding to your comment (approx 19:00) "...lack of HEPA filtration...". Have used these for decades & love them. Easily the best vacuum we've ever owned.

It’s about time we had these back in the uk. We had them for a very very short period and were sold through kleeneze, that was many years ago, I’ve tried to get one sent over from WMJ but no luck they don’t even respond to my emails. They have never once replied to me, I use an American 110 volt vacuum in my house most of the time ( we have dual voltage in our house 120 volt and 240 volt ) the brushrolls on American vacuums are so much better and you have a better selection of vacuums over there, we hardly ever see canisters with powerheads over here and I really like them, but I really want a workhorse
@VacTech1
@VacTech1 3 года назад
It's a great machine, and I agree that canisters with powerheads tend to clean carpeting much better than models without. I hope you're able to get a Workhorse someday!

@@VacTech1 just bought myself the new UK shark canister vacuum with duo powerhead, it’s not bad but it’s not great, still think the workhorse would do better in my house. @seana806
@seana806 Год назад
@@davedebang-bang6168 you may want to try joining a vacuum forum/group, pretty sure someone would be more than willing to send a Workhorse Cleartrak off to the UK to you. May have to forward the cash to buy it and have it shipped, though it may be a bit expensive, probably will be a good investment since it’s a proven design that’s been out for awhile along with good performance on dirt and dust pickup. Not sure these aren’t sold in the UK, more than likely was something to do with the beef they had with Dyson many years ago along with it not looking as posh and modern since the design of this is from the mid 80’s, though someone like me probably cares more about the reliability and durability than the look/styling since reliability and durability are the most important factors in anything really.

With all the hype I've heard about this vacuum from other carpet cleaners I'm a little surprised it got the Silver vs. the Gold rating from the CRI. Although I believe their actual test don't really represent real world cleaning so I'm not sure I'd make much of that Silver rating. You really cannot test in a lab what cleaners run into on a daily basis. I'd place more stock in what a number of cleaners who've actually used it more than a year have said than what someone in a lab said after maybe a few hours of testing in totally unreal circumstances.

I love my Workhorse vacuum, however I am having an issue with it being clogged up and I can't find anything on how to take it apart to unclog it. Any help would be appreciated.
@VacTech1
@VacTech1 2 года назад
There's a few spots to check. Check the base (hose and the brushroll area), remove the rug/floor dial and make sure that area is clear as well. Remove the cyclone (twists and drops down), and make sure the air inlets for the cyclone are clear. Lastly, check the two pre-motor filters. Wash the sponge filter, and the white filter can be vacuumed off or replaced. I hope this helps!

I could give one of these a try. How does this thing compare to the Fantom Thunder?
@panasonicvac4036
@panasonicvac4036 8 месяцев назад
Owning both machines, I'd take the Workhorse or ClearTrak (same machine) over any Thunder. They're better made, more simpler to take apart and repair, cleans better, energy efficient, and I like that they're made in the USA. The only thing I do like better about the Thunder is having a filter after the motor. But the first defense should be before the motor. Thunders don't have premotor filters. There is however a motor suppressor filter on the Workhorse that the Thunders don't have which makes it kinda forgiving. Just keep in mind that it doesn't have HEPA filtration if you have severe allergies.
@zmanifest

@@panasonicvac4036You can also get parts for the Workhorse, where as parts for the Fantoms are extinct now. Yes the Workhorse is made in the USA, whereas the Fantoms are made in Canada.

How is this compared to Sebo vacuum?
@VacTech1
@VacTech1 4 года назад
I like both, but Sebo makes some of the best vacuums available. I would say sebo products are built better, filter better, and (generally) clean carpet better, but they're also more expensive. I like bagless, and use my workhorse more than my sebo, but sebo is a great brand.

Hard to say. When working properly, the Kirby G6 is a better carpet cleaner. However if you want something bagless, something with a hose on-board, and don't mind the filter maintenance that comes with bagless (as opposed to changing a bag), I think you'll really like the Workhorse.

How does the Workhorse compare to the Dyson DC33 & Dyson Ball Animal 2? I am curious.
@VacTech1
@VacTech1 4 года назад
Well, it's very different than those. Remember this is a very early bagless design. I would say it cleans carpeting much better than the DC33, but doesn't vibrate the carpet quite as well as Ball Animal 2, but grooms far better. Thanks for watching!
@FanOfVacuums2
@FanOfVacuums2 3 года назад
I would say that it is better than both. The DC33 has good parts, but carpet cleaning is not one of them. The overall design of the passages of the DC33 makes it a good canister and excellent at filtering fine dirt with the cyclones, but it lacks in performance in upright mode. The biggest difference between the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and the Workhorse is that the Workhorse rarely breaks and is meant to be repaired if it does. The Dyson Ball models are notorious for breaking and are basically meant to be trashed when they inevitably do break. On top of that, their cleaning performance is pretty mediocre.
