During this flight, I take a glide out to a farm house in front of Rushup Edge in the Peak District to connect with the source of a weak evening thermal. I work the lift back to the ridge before heading into land at Windy Knoll.
I’ve been paragliding a long time now John so it’s all normal albeit I never forget it’s a dangerous sport. Roped out of a helicopter sounds epic…. I assume you’ve been in the mob?
Nice flight but there's no way I'd fly an aircraft where my legs formed part of the undercarriage :) I used to fly gliders from Camp Hill 30+ years ago so the terrain is familiar to me - particularly Hope chimney. I now fly with my feet on the ground - RC models power and occasionally gliders. In my youth I've cycled all over that area.
It’s a beautiful area and the ridge in the video is my favourite to fly in the Peak District because it’s very long so plenty of space. I do try to get my undercarriage down for landing and do mange it… most of the time😂
