In this video, I discuss my journey working in the first year as a Nurse Practitioner. I talk openly and honestly about my real experiences working in this role, dealing with anxiety, creating work-life balance, and battling imposter syndrome. I also share my feedback on overcoming these challenges and what you can do differently to adjust in your first Nurse practitioner role. If you are thinking about becoming an NP, RN, LPN, or CNA, this video is also for you !! Getting to any new role can be very intimidating but it does not have to be if you know what to expect and how to navigate these feelings. Watch now to get motivation and inspiration.

I'm an RTR, diagnostic imaging technologist, and I feel you. I do love my job. But imposter syndrome is the worst, and I never feel completely recovered from work. It's just right back into the grinder the next day. Every time I make a mistake a big part of me wonders when they're going to figure out that I don't belong in my position. Everyone makes them, but when you're doing it, it feels like it's only you. The hardest part for me is that it never feels like I can take holiday or sick time. Working down a person makes a tough job brutal. Whenever you're considering calling in sick, it has to be weighed against what you're putting your coworkers through by not being there. Same with vacation. And then there's the wage stagnation that we are definitely not immune to. With inflation from the last couple decades, many specialties should be making way more. I love my job. Being a friendly face in some of the hardest times for patients can make a big difference. But I'm not living how I thought I would be when I started my program. I wish I had known the reality.
