My experience getting hired was a lot different- I applied in the store- told them I applied and right away got scheduled my interview the next day or 2. I did the interview and got hired right away

Emily Newkirk Unfortunately for me, since I’m going to school and I also have a baby, I do not have open availability. But my hours are different every week. Also I actually found out two days ago that my store did not hire anybody full-time recently. So all new people are part time until further notice.

It definitely depends for everyone, I applied 3-4 months ago but have been consistently updating my application and talking to the manager. The manager has my info and said that their going to start hiring around late September and start of October so hoping I finally get a call. Have been really patient.
Same back in August I took a different approach. I start applying every two weeks I even called a few times which was hard to do because I am really shy.
Applied yesterday and got a call this morning to come in for a interview in the afternoon, the hiring manager said that it’s his job to interview five people a week regardless of if they r hiring or not, but the position I applied for (cashier, customer service, cleaning) cashier and customer service is full so he said probably not gonna happen for that but he thinks the cleaning department is short one or two workers so he will go and ask that department manager if they need anyone n told me to go home and wait... but he did still said that they would call me if I’m hired, if they don’t then I’m not... do I still have a chance?

i have baddddd social anxiety so i was wondering if i should tell them that and ask for a job in the back or something orrrr should i lie but i really don’t want to lie cause i don’t like being in situations where i have to run a conversation with people
Publix leaders, their rules are on a person to person basis (aka if you're in with the right people). It is a stuck up work environment where you either are "in" or you or not. For 10 years in up front service i have witnessed this over and over again. With Publix, people come and go but one thing doesn't, its who you know and whether or not your excepted by the right people in you department that determines your success. If they dont like you, their is no career, only a dead end job where you make pocket change. It is easy to be trained as a fake upper class snob.
I worked at a grocery store up north, I worked like 50 hours during COVID. I did carts mostly and cashiered somewhat. I have a interview at Publix on Thursday

One of the managers put me on the interview list for February. That particular manager just left to go on vacation for a week. So, I called and spoke to the actual store manager and he verified my number and said he'd hopefully get me in within the next few days. I really don't want to miss out on the opportunity so I've decided to go in person and introduce myself, hopefully landing the interview! Any other suggestions please let me know!
I applied a while ago and got a call like 4 days later, asking for an interview...Anyways, I passed and they ended up mixing my papers up with a publix 15 miles from me and hired me at the wrong one 🙄🙄 They just apologized and asked me to talk to the manager at the one close to me and they weren’t hiring 🥴 Lol, thanks for the video though because I reapplied last night
invictus wow what the hell ! You could start at the one far away (if u have a car) and then get a transfer whenever one closer to you is hiring. You’re more likely to get the job if u alrdy have experience at a publix for sure
i’ve applied to multiple stores and called in to ask about my application. they always say that they will leave my name and number for the hiring manager. it’s been over 2 weeks and haven’t gotten a call. any tips?
Ask to speak with the hiring manager. If they are not available, don’t leave any info again. Only speak with the hiring manager. U can try going in. But I would just give up tbh. I tried to get my sister in my store and she went through the same thing. I eventually asked the hiring manager myself and she told me we weren’t hiring anymore. So maybe they are no longer hiring. U can try another location though

Heydy R from what I see in the comments, another person had an interview today, got hired, and also did the drug testing today. In my situation, I was drug tested several days later. Therefore, just go with an open mind that u may get drug tested the same time !
I just got hired and I have cashier experience but grocery store experience is not something I’m use to it’s a lot of people and new things lol I didn’t get a vest they were out of them lol. But my husband works there so that’s how I got the job interview

Im 14 and applying to publix not yet but during the summer. And im not sure if I should apply for cashier bagger or floral worker. If I'm in FFA and was in a floriculture competition, will that actually give me a chance to get in?
Yes you can apply at 14. If you are hired as a bagger then you will only be a bagger unless you asked to be trained as a cashier. However don’t think that just because you are training means that your position will now be a cashier. They will only use you if they NEED u. End it would probably only be for a few minutes when there is a rush

Hey, do you know if there is a minimum amount of hours I can work as a part time employee. Unfortunately I was just hired July 1st, I was only planning to do it during the summer honestly. But it took a while for me to get an interview. I just got hired, and now I’m worried because I start school in August, and idk if I can handle doing both.
No they work with your schedule for the most part. Especially high school students. Some of them only worked 3 hr shifts. I guess it depends on your store.
Hey I Had Applied online in Like end of june and got an Email Like last week and it says to Prepare a 30 sec Introduction Of yourself and why you would make a good publix employee but theres one thing that I dont understand..What I dont understand is That the email says to go To the publix And to go to the department where I want to work and Ask for the Manager of that department and introduce myself there etc etc..I'm Not sure exactly how to do that😅🤦🏻♂️ If you could help it be Great. I no longer work there so I can’t ask but I think Whichever department u applied for, u should call & speak with the head of that department to find out exactly what to do because I never heard of that email

Just be yourself. The first question is always tell me about yourself. So tell them a few of ur goals in life. And y u chose publix to help u reach those goals
i’ve been trying to get a job at publix since oct 2020. the hiring manager told me she’s pulled my application but she’s “waiting” until her manager tells her she can call me in for an interview. she’s told me that since october, it’s december. i just called the store and spoke to a different person and she told me that they just hired a bunch of people. every time i go into the store i see new employees. what do i do?
Apply somewhere else. The hiring manager does not have to wait on anybody as far as I’m concerned. They make the call on who and when to interview and hire. Worst yet they just hired a bunch of people. Yeah umm no, sorry but look elsewhere

Lavone Coleman tips: be honest, smile, mke sure your appearance is A1. Questions: general interview questions, I answered a few other people in the comments, why did u choose publix is the main one. I took nothing except myself, they have ur resume on file alrdy. They will be reading off that when tlkin bout ur past experience, whether u have or not.
I applied and called the Publix yesterday and talked to the customer service team leader she asked me questions like my availability and my age etc and she said she would call me back shortly, I hope they call me today I really need money.

Floral person is easier from what I saw. But cashier is not hard. The machine does calculations for u. Long as u can count the money that u recieve and that u return. Sometimes people try to confuse u by giving u extra change so they can get a whole bill. Ur best bet is to walk with ur own calculator

Do they randomly drug test? I haven’t even been tested at ALL and I looked it up. I’m seeing answers all over the web that they are testing, they aren’t testing because of COVID. I’m reading stuff like they random drug test, once every 90 days, or only if they are suspicious, or every month they pick randomly 10 people. I’m reading they don’t test at all. I’m also reading it depends on location
The same way you did the initial application. When u login, it’ll show you that it’s expired.And it gives the option to resubmit it. Not sure if things changed since then
I just applied and got my virtual orientation date and start date but i took mouth swab i havn’t smoked since the 11th am i safe????😩😩i hate that i just started🤦🏽♀️
