WORKING CLASS HERO
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working-class hero is something to be
A working-class hero is something to be
"There's room at the top" they're telling you still
But first, you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on The Hill
A working-class hero is something to be
Yes, a working-class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me
Written by John Lennon
Acoustic guitar and vocals by John Lennon
From the album 'John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band' by John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band

It’s about the politicians and the rich, their one in the same. Not all rich but the oligarchs and corporate greed. John was a beautiful soul who spread love and wanted peace for all and true equality for all. I see some people are envious of him because he had money. He was murdered in the process of trying to do a good deed for a fake fan. He lived as he preached, just he had money but they judge and condemn him for that ? Peace ✌️

One of the things that made the Beatles unique was their work ethic. From 1963 to 1968 they released two albums almost every year plus non album singles and in the early years non album EPs. That's more than 30 recordings a year. That's a career for some artists today.
@michaelk5507
@michaelk5507 10 месяцев назад
Yeah. It's also worth considering how their sound changed so radically over the years. Gosh, that seem like a long time, but their recording career lasted less than a decade! There were several different Beatles bands. Instead of sticking with or milking a sound for two or three albums, they abandoned what had gone before and leapt forwards into something new. But, basically, it was all down to the quality of the performances in the studio and, of course, the ultimate thing, Lennon and McCartney's truly outstanding songwriting abilities. We shan't see their like again, alas. @@schuberttim

Such a true, hard hitting song. So many of the lyrics I can relate to, as I'm sure many other people can. The line 'They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool.' Really gets to me. When I was at school, dyslexia hadn't been heard of, so I was picked on for not being able to read or write well. Nowadays kids would get extra tuition. But not then, I was put in the class for kids with low IQ's. The teachers were not interested in teaching you, if you didn't understand you were just ignored. My dad worked all the hours god sent in a factory 6am-2pm one week, 2pm-10pm the next and 10pm-6am the next. He had been very clever at school but he married young and needed to make a living and I believe that caused his death aged 52, he was my working class hero. I was also bullied really bad, not just by the kids but by the teachers. I remember a teacher telling me to fo to her office, and then she he proceeded to call me an ugly bitch, and slapped me in the face, Anyway, I did discover something I was good at, and I excelled at, and that was science, So I decided to study biomedical science. So now I work in a lab looking at tissue samples to see if they're malignant or benign. My spelling and grammar is still shit (thank god for Google spell check, or this would look like Swahili!) Don't ever let anybody put you down, or say you will never become anything. And even if you don't have a 'professional' career, a working class hero is something to be, and something to be proud of.

Do not idolize people the bible says also this you shall not make yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or the waters below exodus chapter 20:4 but you can always repent because God loves that why he sent his son to die on the cross for all of our sins and gave the Ten Commandments to Moses so we would live our lives not in sin God bless you
@pepper9905
@pepper9905 3 года назад
@@Toviyah Yes, the Bible may say that but just because the Bible says that does not mean you have to follow the dictation of authors millenias ago. The Bible is just as illegitimate as the Quran, or the Tanakh. There is nothing that elevates the Bible above other religious literature, and if you live by the strictest commands of "have no idols" then you're a clown. The Bible contains so many inconsistencies and a lack of convincing arguments for its validity. The modern consensus amongst most theists AND historians is that the Bible is not a reliable historical record and is not accurate. And another point of how it is unreasonable for us to follow the Bible blindly is Paul the Apostle in 1 Corinthians. He states that there were over 500 people who witnessed Jesus Christ's resurrection, however, there is not a single witness testimony from the 500 other than himself, and outside of this single reference in Paul to the Corinthians, there is not a single shred or hint of evidence of their existence. This just illustrates how unreliable the Bible is as a source, and you shouldn't follow it blindly. Also, miracles are by definition an extremely rare event. Why do all theists believe in extremely, astronomically unlikely events when there are many other alternatives that are much more plausible and historically supported. Jesus Christ was more-than-most-likely just a charismatic influencer of the 1st century in Judea, who was opposition against Roman persecution against Jews and occupation of Judea, as opposed to being the son of God. And also, why would God take so much influence from pre-existing doctrines of religion? There is an undeniable link between the pre-existing Zoroastrian religion and Abrahamic religions, with the first idea of the "Christian" heaven and hell idea, Satan/devil, early forms of creationism, monotheism and our ideas of angels. So, essentially you just stated a blank statement that can easily be disputed, celebrimbor, and gave no evidence for it. And either way, idolizing isn't bad unless it gets unhealthy, it's good to have inspiration in your life from people like successful musicians.
@Toviyah
@Toviyah 3 года назад
@@pepper9905 anyways I guess you say that the bible is fake has no historical evidence what about the Assyrian king that imprisioned the Jews inside Jerusalem and it not just the bible that says this but the 35cm pillar that the king wrote on about his achievements and the gospel that Paul wrote the first manuscript found was only 25 years older anyways you say God took evidence from other evidence is because the people are related to each other and slowly but surely they became different ideas to who created them that exactly what happened to the Israelites in Judah’s half of Israel they totally forgot about the Ten Commandments and people that go apart will get a different story but please don’t bring up the Horus agreement it already been disproven so anyways about idolizing you are putting those first instead of God
@pepper9905
@pepper9905 3 года назад
@@Toviyah I didn't say the Bible has no historical evidence. I was just saying that it is largely unreliable for using as historical reference points, I'm aware there are accurate representations in the Bible of the collapse of the Walls of Jericho, but nothing in the Bible that has been accurately recorded is evidence for its legitimacy. There are some true points in the Bible but nothing that proves the existence of the Holy Spirit, Miracles, Angels or the word of the Christian God. So, essentially you still haven't legitimised Christianity. You brought up an insignificant argument that barely changed my points at all. The point that was mine that you addressed was my criticism of the Bibles accuracy in historical record, however you claimed that I said "the bible has /no/ historical evidence", which is a false interpretation of what I said. I was merely saying that the Bible is just largely unreliable, which is different to it having no historically accurate pieces. But still, the Bible hasn't been legitimated any more than Islam has for example, and you only used one example of the Bible being a reliable book for historical reference, which doesn't disprove my point.

It was the early 90's before I heard this song. When it was originally released, I was either in Navy boot camp or in training in Memphis. Either way this song was not played on the radio. I didn't have room for a record player and wasn't buying albums. I missed a lot of great music. This was John's masterpiece. After the Beatles broke up, John was free to write and record, in my opinion some of the best music every recorded. The lyrics, music and production enable the listener a glimpse into to John's tortured soul. John like many did not have an easy life. But, John had a way in his music to allow the listener a momentary glimpse into his feelings. There are several books, "The love you make" about the Beatles and a couple about John's life after the Beatles, sorry I can't remember the name of the book. The book was written from stories from John's girlfriend in the late 70's who claimed John was going to leave Yoko for her. If anyone knows which book I refer to, please let me know, because I lost it in one of my many moves. A lot of people don't like Yoko. In their opinion she caused the break up of the Beatles. In my opinion, Yoko gave John the freedom to write what John wanted/needed to write. In the end John may have lived a life funded by the money from his music. But the music was about his life and trying to cope.

As soon as you're born, they make you feel small By giving you no time instead of it all 'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be They hurt you at home and they hit you at school They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool 'Til you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be When they've tortured and scared you for 20 odd years Then they expect you to pick a career When you can't really function, you're so full of fear A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV And you think you're so clever and classless and free But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be There's room at the top they are telling you still But first you must learn how to smile as you kill If you want to be like the folks on the hill A working class hero is something to be A working class hero is something to be If you want to be a hero, well, just follow me If you want to be a hero, well, just follow me

The comments of this masterpiece warm my heart. It’s good to know that other people out there think the same as I do, especially such great legends like John Lennon, who never sold out to anyone and recognised the working class as amazing people. I believe that’s why he was murdered. To those suffering today because of the crappy society today, you are not alone!

When this masterpiece has just over 1.5 million views and Gucci gang has 850 million views, it just makes me sad

This shouldn't make you sad, this should make proud to be one of the privileged who understand and being able to appreciate the genius

probably cause its not a legitimate "music video". also this is an old song and old songs rarely get lots of views as many of the views are re-listens from when a song is new. Lastly upbeat party songs will generally always pass serious songs in views as most of the time music is an escape. Its a great song but there are also newer "woke" songs that'll get lots of views so don't worry so much

This song alone would've made Lennon a legend. "First you must learn how to smile how as you kill, If you want to be like the folks on the hill"

These wonderful lyrics, the conviction and emotion of Lennon when interpreting this song, demonstrate Lennon's unwavering social commitment, and the reason why the American economic power ordered his assassination.
