I watch both of you and think this video was very fun to watch! For example, I only have 6 months of tier 2/Light Tier 3 service desk experience, and my employer is pushing me to apply for a system administrator position because they seem to like my attitude. Whether I do, or do not get the role I won't stop continuing to learn and feel like it could help my journey tremendously down the road once in a security role to gain more troubleshooting skills. I have also seen a friend go from zero, to a jr. security analyst from working hard on home labs and CTF's. Anything is possible

On the topic of learning fundamentals and even more intermediate concepts, a good practice I’ve found is when learning something to be able to speak about it out loud as if you were asked about it in an interview. Being able to concisely articulate what you know is important in any technical field

I made sure to watch this video first and it did not disappoint! Hope to see you two collaborate again in the future. And in regard to the question about where do you see the Cybersecurity industry in 5 years, I say I hope to see Purple Teams be a more common aspect/the industry standard.

Thanks for watching. I agree, purple teams will continue to grow. I'll be interested to see what happens with all of this AI-hype within the next 5 years.

Absolutely amazing! Witnessing two extraordinary cybersecurity experts share insights from their years of experience, guiding us on the journey into cybersecurity and providing a predective glimps into the future with Ai. I'm going to watch the second part on @UnixGuy's channel! Eager to see any Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges or collaborative projects you both embark on!

Hey sir, is the i7H 13th generation laptop processor enough for cybersecurity? Or consider buying an i9H processor laptop

Looking back with the knowledge you have now, would you pick the same path? Are there some things you would do the same or differently? I hear a lot that people regret spending the time and energy they did at University and on basic certifications do you agree or disagree? Do you think that practical labs/projects could be the most efficient way to learn or would you recommend the traditional path?
@collinsinfosec
@collinsinfosec 5 месяцев назад
I personally still recommend a university degree if you do not have any previous university degrees. Although my overall sentiment on degrees is negative, it's a "checkmark" for your resume. Obtaining a degree opens more opportunities that would otherwise be closed since there is a disconnect between HR recruitment standards and security skill sets. It's something worth getting right now. Even though I do think the best way is through practical side projects, labs, and CTFs. The way I landed my job was through networking with people, this is advice I still try to implement to this day. It wasn't my degree. It was quite helpful when applying for jobs.

Can we start from the google cybersecurity from Coursera ?
@HotNitrogen

You don't need to know everything. You never will as it's constantly evolving but you do need to be generally pleasant and a decent person that can get along with the majority of people and have excellent Googling skills If I didn't go to university, a role in helpdesk to learn fundamentals of IT/people skills and studying Sec+ on the side will put you in a pretty good position

How is it possible to work a cybersecurity role remotely, I am trying to wrap my head around it. Wouldn't that be in it of itself a security concern. Someone enlighten me 🙂
