I was a sound designer and board operator for two of three theaters in a small city similar to Fayetteville. Most people can't believe that we have a lower echelon Equity theater, another professional theater, and really ambitious and rewarding community theater. All three are oriented toward different productions...the community theater does titles everyone knows, the professional theater is primarily Shakespeare and other classic plays, and the Equity theater is experimental, usually presenting recent off-Broadway plays and also "issue" plays. There are also several other community theaters in the suburbs. Our local CBS station cut out of the Tonys at the 11 o'clock break last June, clearly not having paid attention to the broadcast, and the protests were loud and plentiful, very rewarding to see the interest in theater in our burg. Thank you for your Life in the Theater series...it's been a source of information and a resource I've pointed young people with interest in various theater crafts toward. It's a wealth of information you give us. Thank you and your underwriters. And please tell the Tony committee that at least one sound designer is delighted that our Tony is coming back.
So proud of Fayetteville! However, this video makes it sound much smaller than it is. The area has bout 450,000 people, and major D1 University, and 3 Fortune 500 Company HQs, including Walmart. Not discounting the importance of what T2 is doing, just giving some deeper context about the area surrounding it.
