Working solo on our narrowboat cafe 

I'm the cyclist on the blue bike who dropped in for lunch last Sunday on my ride from Bugsworth basin. Was lovely to chat to you both in person, and the food was fab. Raspberry and almond cake was a real winner. I'll be back :)

I've been binge watching your videos for the past 2 weeks from my caravan currently in Arizona, U.S. and thinking I may need a change in lifestyle because I do love the water and used to sail quite a bit off the CA coast. I miss it. Problem is there isn't too much opportunity for narrow boating in the U.S. Oh, well, maybe it's time for a change and moving to the U.K. We shall see. Today is the first day that I caught a current video from you and I was thriled. Jo, you did a GREAT job on your solo on Holly! Jo all you have to remember is "Spring forward, fall back" so spring you loose an hours sleep, and autumn you gain an hours sleep :) Great to see you back in action baking those delicious cakes :)

It was lovely to finally have met you all. It was great to see William enjoying playing with the frog and shrimp, I could have made lots more things for him but you would have had a boat full of toys :) I made some little cakes last week and they were very wonky but they tasted delicious!

Oh Yum ! If only I could visit I’d so enjoy meeting your lovely family, I’d have Ginger cake, Raspberry Almond and Lemon Drizzle. So that’s Saturday, Sunday and one to go. It’s just a bit far from Vancouver Island a small village in the mountains. A 24 hr or more trip at my age is too much. I wait for you Vic and William to post your lovely videos, you feel like family ❤

I made the blueberry & lemon cake from your book, unfortunately the fruit sank even though I dusted them with flour but the cake was amazing so moist loved it, you did amazing on your own & I'm going to try the ginger cake next 😀🤗

What fun! When it comes to wonky cakes, don't you think that could be a selling point? Proof positive that it was baked on a narrowboat! I would actually seek out something like that. In fact, when I can travel again (probably next year), I will fly half-way around the planet, try to find you, just for the experience, and I will even ask for a wonky cake. 🤣 LOVE the shrimp, and William enunciates the word so perfectly!

We know all about balancing the boat when baking, anyway lovely to see you back on Holly, I hope we pass you at some point we now run a café boat, but do hot food as well as cake and drinks, it would be boring if we all served the same thing. Love you too and the boys Alex and Maria

Go Jo! us women are amazing! I've been in labour whilst finishing off wedding cakes lol my babies arrived early! I worked solo on a food van.Once you get in the groove it all falls into place! never doubt your ability! Some old school bakes never fail to please! I'm trading some of my knitting for an old school tray bake this week!

OMG you have just explained my rice crispy flap jacks - bare with me here... Melt mars bars and then mix in rice crispys, then layer on a baking tray and poor over melted chocolate - fridge.. hey presto! Whoop Whoop! ♥😂

A little saying for you & a way to remember about how our clocks change x2 annually. - "Spring's forward & Fall's back". - So "Spring's forward" means in Spring is forward - on the 1st weekend in Spring, on the Sat into Sun night, at 1 am, our clocks go forward an hour, (so an extra hour in bed). 😊 "Fall's back" means Autumn/Fall is back an hour - so the 1st weekend in Fall, (Autumn) our clocks all go back, (so we lose an hour in bed)! 😅 Handy, isn't it?

In Australia we call your mars bar creation Chocolate Crackles. Recipe a bit different does not use mars bars , mostly made for kids parties 4 cups Rice bubbles 1 cup icing sugar 1 cup desiccated coconut 250g copha®*, chopped (known in Europe as coconut fat) 3 Tbsp cocoa then melt copha, mix all together and put in patty pans and refrigerate till set

For your wonky cakes use tooth picks , 3 or 4 usually work well. You can pull them out when you cut for sales. And they wont be seen for the beauty.

Good you have an excellent cook book to reference from, ha ha. Busy days for you solo but you sort of knew you could handle it and all the better for a relax and a cooked meal and a well aren't sleep. William is growing really fast now and I hope he is handling the move off camera.

Hi Jo. Great to see you back on Holly. A comment on the allergy sheet. Would you list chilli or curry as allergy? I know they are not ingredients you use. My wife can become seriously ill and have a very bad reaction that could be fatal. But some supermarkets won't list them as possible allergenic ingredients because the amounts are so small.
