I did silk painting 30 years ago, now i did it ones now, and I am back on it. I love silk and I have a lot of projects in my mind. I was serching for how to color Gutta, but never new about resist. Well, I need to reserch more, but this video was already helpful. Thank you so much.
@@DanielJeanBaptiste thank you so much for your answer I have 19th century japanese embroidery of peacocks good condition but has some color fade and I want to brighten color to look original without looking painted. Maybe soft metallic sheen added to paint to mix in before ?
Interesting how many different ways there are to mix and apply resist. I use Cleanline (now discontinued) or Resistad and mix up many colors in squeeze bottles, which keep for months or years if I add alcohol to keep it from getting moldy and re-hydrate once in a while. Your method is clever for saving money, and tip clogging would not be a problem. You might like my music scarf video.
Thank you for sharing this information. It's very helpful. My question doesn't the water based gutta wash off when soaked in water? The one I use is transparent and when I wash the silk after its completed the resist washes off exposing the white fabric underneath.
This is going to sound like a silly question... but... since this is a water-based resist... Do we need to iron it out like you would do the wax resist... or What do we do with this resist before the silk is steamed? How do we remove this water based resist before steaming the silk? Thank you for sharing yet another great video/tutorial... I love the CONE method...
@@DanielJeanBaptiste Thank you for your fast reply.... I forgot to mention... that I will be doing Wearable ART... ...so you are right, I would have to steam it... I love your ART and how good you are of teaching us... you make it to where we don't feel (stupid)... Thank you soooooo much for all your help.
Hi u r a god send man to me I was looking for a alternative to gutta tube and u made it so easy with cone . which wax have u used ? Can we use candle or bee wax but I m surprised how your wax mixed with water generally they don't mix Waiting for your reply and yes your work is brilliant thanks
Brilliant, I am using an expensive gutta resist which comes in very small tubes and a fine steel nib which can block or blob easily for beginners especially, so I am most grateful to you for posting this video as it has opened up a whole different way of preparing the silk for painting. I also particularly like the idea of fixing the silk to the drawing rather than actually drawing on to the silk and covering the lines with resist. Thank you very much, Sue Brown
Thank you! Have always worked with gutta with my silk stretched above my drawing. Always got thick lines. The spray glue and this resist is a game changer!
Sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Bjorn Wilder i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hi Mr. Jean Baptiste.... I am very interested in your technique on resist but G & S is not carrying this product at this time. Do you have any news on it or can you recommend another resist to use? Thank you! Julie
