I have mixed feelings about Workington, born here & my family history is firmly fixed in West Cumberland, have many good memories, but since we lost the Steelworks, pits & other industries, we never recovered, my Dad worked at the Steelworks & was a shop steward, I moved away in the 80's when there was loads of pubs, & clubs to go to, i've been back over the years, & the decline of the town is very sad, West Cumbrian's are kind & good people but the lack of money & infrastructure is the reason why Workington sadly is like this, i'm proud of my roots but would not live there now 😢

Instead of turning left to the houses maybe you should have turned right......M&S, River ISLAND, NEXT, DEICHMAN, HMV, NEW LOOK, WILKOS, BOOTS, SUPERDRUG, TRESPASS, JD Sports, THE WORKS, THREE, SPORTS DIRECT, ARGOS, COSTA CoFFEE, HOME BARGAINS, SHOE ZONE, POUNDLAND, ICELAND, TUI, PEACOCKS, CEX, ARGOS, HOME BARGAINS... This town has probably more to offer shopping wise than some UK cities. Not to mention the retail parks near the railwy station. Dunelm, Home bargains, Mcdonalds, KFC, Halfords, B&Q, Morrisons, Aldi, Pets at Home, Matalan, Poundstretcher, B&M, Currys PC World

The church you mentioned at around 4:15, is the Carnegie Theatre. The red brick house with the doors and windows boarded up, was a house for a short time after the theatre was built. Around 1911 the Carnegie became a theatre, and the Carnegie bought the property and this allowed them to extent for use for the theatre.

It isn't "Cumbria" thats propaganda and nonsense that the BBC parrots. Our county is indeed Cumberland and we have Cumberland Building Society, Cumberland sausage, Cumberland Ales and so on. Never say Cumbria when you mean Cumberland! Good video by the way :)

How depressing ha

It’s such a dump it’s untrue, like going back to the 80’s. Very deprived, no opportunities, low skill sets, lots of folk taking drugs and on PIP. Depressing place to be honest.
