My two favorite accessories are the Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse and the MX Keys Advanced Wireless Illuminated Keyboard. They both work seamlessly on my Galaxy Chromebook. Best part is that they can pair with 3 different devices, so I can switch between my Chromebook and my work PC. They are both pricey, but definitely worth it for the work from home crowd.
There are also DisplayLink based display output generators (not mistaken with USB type C HDMI pass through) that work with ChromeOS since some older version. If you want lots of displays it can do it.
One thing you need to take into account - SD Cards are NOT PERSISTANT STORAGE on Chromebooks. Yes the card may sit flush on the Lenovo but the card is unmounted on sleep which causes issues for any non-native Chrome app (aka Android & Linux) which correctly expects the SD Card to behave like it does on every other computer - i.e. the contents are there until ejected. It's a deliberate attempt by Google to minimise local storage usage over their costed cloud storage & advert content analysis.
True about the bt issue. Login tech keyboard/mouse work great. 713 does not have a great speaker so I got a small jbl bt speaker that I keep clipped to my backpack. Can't get it to work at all. Have a larger bt speaker. Works, but pretty choppy for zoom calls. Anker bt headphones work great, mic included. Battery life is a lot lower than I expected from anker.
@@everydaytechdesks1070 Me too! I'd say Mac users are more prone to having their interest piqued. I suppose it's the user-friendliness of Chrome OS combined with the build quality of Google-branded devices (in particular) that offers some familiarity; the price tag plays a role as well, of course.
Robbie - I watched this one a couple of weeks ago and started searching for a DVD/Cd drive that will easily work with my Acer Chomebook15. There were none on Works With Chrome. Amazon shows many but when you read customer reviews they all say a form of "doesn't work with my Chromebook." I'm an old fart and don't have the patience to try a developer fix. Can you please, if such a thing exists, recommend a DVD drive that will work out of the box? Much appreciated.
Printers! Would like to see an item on this. Our Epson sx445 doesn't work wirelessly but does via USB. Reviews don't always (at all?) tell you if they are chromeOS compatible especially now that Google cloud print is defunct.
Good with the "works with" but still limited, we consumers most of all need to know what works with a CB in other users experience or from these awesome reviews. I have for instance looked everywhere for USB wifi dongles to enhance wifi reception. There are tons for windows, but for CBs you are left with random sketchy user comments on a few products. Yet, Googles support forum claims such products exists, but without clear references, and leading to dead or very unclear and unsatisfying conclusions. Would be awesome with more organisation and collaboration on this.
Can you do a video on what printers/scanners work best with a chrome book/pixelbook? College student here w/a pixelbook & a canon pixma 3500 or something & I HATE IT. Literally only scans 4 ONE SIDED pages but hardly ever even works. And I can’t find anything useful anywhere to suggest a printer/scanner that works WELL, is compact & works with my pixelbook go😩. HELP.
@Chrome Unboxed, could you make a video about 4-G or 5-G mobile internet MiFi routers or dongles that work with a chromebook? It's something I'm trying to find out for a pretty long time now. Thanks
The Logitech M355 mouse isn't available here but I got a Logitech M350 and it works just fine, I've never had it lose the Bluetooth connection. I think my next purchase will be the Lenovo USI pen to go with my Chromebook Duet, which I bought on your reccomendation and really enjoy using when I'm out.
It has a little bit issues if you try to work with chromebook, it doesn’t support android emulator when you try android studio even you have an high end chromebook ,anything else works fine
what is the situation on USI Stylus on chromebooks? Is it's use part of the chrome OS so that USI may be certified as "Works with Chromebook" or is dependent on the individual screen/manufacturer specification. USI does not seem to work with my Google Pixelbook. Serious question can any one assist. Love the channel bytheway
My Passport came with software to install. Either Mac or Windows. I plugged it in and the computer recognizes it but I can;t transfer files to it. My box doesn't; have the Chrome sticker on it. Did I received an older version? It is the 5T.
@Chrome Unboxed. I have an HP Chrome book and I’m thinking about getting an micro SD card or an external hard drive like WD brand hard drive? Which one would you recommend? Which is better and more easier to use?
I bought a chromebook and my Western Digital external HD worked fine. Then one day my chromebook doesn't recognize the HD when I plug it in. Any ideas? I thought that if the HD was "broken" at least it would still recognize a device being plugged in.
I can not transfer files from my USB memory stick to the Chromebook. I can play music files from the stick, but there is no option for me to download them to the Chromebook. I was hoping to download music files and videos for in-flight entertainment during my upcoming trip. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your video but that's so so inconvenient. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Its seems you are saying that google has tested and ' rubber stamped ' certain peripherals to work on their chrome books ?? What happened if I had already bought an external dvd drive before buying the Chromebook and I want to use that instead of having to buy a google rubber stamped dvd drive ?
I'm using an ASUS Chromebook, and I've always wondered about using the Cable Matters Adapter. Added Edit: I mean, I understand that ("in with the new, out with the old") SD cards ' 'seem like the only way to store and burn data nowadays' ', but I'd really like if there was an external CD/DVD drive that (I know you can play CDs and DVDs on a Chromebook) would ALWAYS burn CDs and DVDs on a Chromebook. I've tried apps like Disc Link Platinum and Disc Link Pro before using my LG Slim Portable DVD Writer (Model: GP63EX70), and (don't get me wrong) the Chromebook will read CDs and DVDs (plays the videos on them and everything). I'm actually not complaining or anything, in fact I really do enjoy Chromebook... It's just that (I know people are thinking: "Why would you want to burn a CD and DVD anymore?") I wish I could burn a CD and DVD using a Chromebook (and it would 100% completely do it). I appreciate and thank you guys at Chrome Unboxed for all your videos. 👍 I'd appreciate any replied feedback to my problem.
I have a SSD drive external when I plug it in and it shows multiple drives instead of just the one and it says when I try to put files on it does not have enough space
Question about the WD external hard drive that has the “works for chromebook” logo on it. Is this particular hard drive only designed for chromebook? I don’t have a chromebook. Can I still use this hard drive like every other external hard drive out there?
Zoom App doesn't seem to "work" quite well on my Lenovo Chromebook Duet. Certain features that are important to me are just missing. Any solutions for that?
Hi there. I am having problem using my WD passaport. If I buy this other device that you used , between the WD and Chromebook, do you think will solve the matter? At the moment, when I plug my WD does not recognise it. Many thanks.
hello i watch your videos all the time your the reason I purchased a Samsung galaxy Chromebook, I'm having a weird problem I plug in my phone to my Chromebook C to C and its not recognising like if I didn't connect anything to it I tried a few other things and it doing the same thing with all ports. could this be fixed or is something really wrong just advice or opinion would really mean a lot to me thank you.
You won't answer But is the sadisk the same as an sd card, no i mean i want to use a flashdrive with my acer 713 spin, love it, bought/ choose the spin because of your reviews, so thank you so very much, im new to chromebooks but this one is so nice and has everything i want, can i use a flashdrive with it to down load my important files, and why when I'm on the Instagram app, is it so small, is it my insta settings or my chromebook settings, hmm, now i sound very dumb, and i assure you im highly intelligent, just affraid when im working with a new and different device! Lol thanx you are the best!!🤔😂😂♥️👍
@@BrittMFH I thought Google cloud printing was discontinued? I would be interested in connecting a printer directly to my Chromebook or printing through WiFi in my own network
@@fhwolthuis - you and me too, buddy. No matter how many instructional videos I watch, I do not believe Chromebooks were ever intended to print. Why would they make it so complicated if they intended us to print. What good is it to have a word program if it doesn't have a printing system. I hate to buy another windows but that may be what I have to do. My prior Windows PC was continually seizing up and I'd have to find someone to help me. Chromebook keeps on ticking but doesn't print.
@@grandmajane2593 it seems you can connect a modern printer directly to a Chromebook nowadays, but I haven't tried it yet. I have little space and need for a printer. And almost all printers are rip offs anyway with the high ink printers
@@fhwolthuis - Thanks for your response. I need to buy some sort of device/machine that I can type with and it will print . I don't think modern day computers are made for the old fashioned activities of a typist. They want to put everything up in the air "clouds".
I'm actually really surprised they have to put a label on typical accessories that work with Chromebooks 😂. I mean other than Mac stuff, what doesn't work for Chromebooks?
It is interesting that they have works with Chromebook hardware. I have an external nvme drive that only works with Chromebook but will not work with Windows OS and Linux.
Speaking of working or not working on Cromebooks... While not hardware related the new Xbox Game Pass game stream service no longer works on Chromebooks. Hasn't since an update in December. It used to work great so it's deffo a Microsoft issue.
This is the first Chrome Unboxed vid that bored me to death. This could have been 2 minutes long. Instead, over 10 minutes of beating a dead horse. "It Just Works!" Okay. We get it.
SanDisk is "Memory" MicroSD Card is an external drive but inside the Chromebook? How long do I have to wait for a Keyboard Chromebook with SanDisk built-in. ThePassport - should have Ethernet on the Keyboard Chromebook with SanDisk Memory external drive. I shall wait.
Windows works with any USB drives, why doesn't ChromeOS? Ones I plug it constantly disconnect when copying files (same with Android phones). Shouldn't need a certification programme 😕
