Sometimes the air conditioning is so extreme that you have to wear heavier clothes. Then you step outside melt. In that case, you should always bring a layer that you can pull off. You have made some lovely selections. The vests are a great touch.

I worked my whole career in a very conservative corporate office. I love wearing linen, but the one time I wore a nice linen dress there, I got many negative comments about, and stares at, the wrinkles. People, I suppose, weren’t accustomed to seeing that much linen then. I ironed it perfectly, but by the time I got off my commute bus, it was wrinkled, of course. I stuck to viscose/rayon, and some cotton, after that, I just felt too self-conscious. Now that I’m retired, I wear linen everyday, my summer wardrobe is about 90% linen. It’s the only way to stay cool on a really hot day, and my climate is a dry one, higher humidity makes it so much worse! When I went to NYC one June, I was amazed at how uncomfortably humid it was and the temperature was only in the low 80s, but it felt so much hotter. When we went into a matinee theater, a weird, huge cloud of fog formed above the audience of hot, sweaty bodies, something went wrong with the AC and it was much too cold, about 57-58. I froze even though I had a light jacket. I sympathize, Mila, it’s a lot trickier to look put together and professional in lightweight, cool summer fabrics. I always had a very hot, mile-long home after getting off the bus in the late afternoons and really suffered in the full, glaring sun. Walking over that broken ground covered with concrete rubble wasn’t much fun, either, there were no sidewalks then, I always wore sneakers and left my heels at the office.
Mila, thank you for all the detailed descriptions. Good materials is one of most important elements. Does Sezane Rome shorts fit you? There is no sezane store near me, I am same weight and height as you, I am also curvier at hip area, so your try on helps me a ton. I have never ordered bottoms online for that reason.

😊 me at work in the summer: shorts and blazers, dresses, mini skirts. France has influenced me so much. But I’m sure that if I worked in Italy, they wouldn’t let me wear shorter pieces :S

Haha I was told by a friend, omg life changing 🤣 So glad you enjoyed the outfits! I have some flexibility at work too when it comes to getting dressed, so I like to look polished but still a little casual and comfortable. We’re both lucky 🤗
May I ask where your block-heel light green shoes are from? I love them, thanks. I tried the linen tops and skirts from Abercrombie but the fit was absolutely bizarre on me, sending back. Too bad, I love the sage green color I ordered them in.

@@tatianaguerrero02 yes I have the shorts, they’re super flattering! I kept both size 4 and 6 😂😂😂 I wore the size 6 with the vest to my piano students’ recital (felt more appropriate). I kept the 4 because it’s more fitted and also slightly shorter which I prefer on a regular basis. Both fit well, 6 is a bit loose around the waist :)
I never once wore trousers to the office in my whole career, I prefer dresses or skirt outfits for their superior comfort. In my day, bare shoulders weren’t acceptable in an office environment. No sleeveless blouses, much less tank tops! It’s too bad, now my arms are no longer beautiful, age 64. They are slim, but unavoidable aging-caused collagen loss makes them wrinkled. I don’t care that much, if it’s really hot, I wear sleeveless anyway, why she we be embarassed for getting older? Men aren’t, ever.
I’m not of a fan of the tencel flare dress from Quince. I have one in the brown color and it doesn’t wash or dry well. The fabric has faded a lot, and I’ve only had the dress for 2 years. Avoid the tencel pieces from Quince!
