Some Italian ladies I used to work with told me that in Italy, they wear wrinkled linen proudly. It shows that it's linen. It's a fabric with a lot of character.
If you let linen clothing dry after ironing, before wearing it, it won’t wrinkle nearly as much. Steaming isn’t very effective for linen, it won’t remove packing creases, but if you try it, let the steamed clothes dry thoroughly also. I can only wear linen in the summer, cotton, the next coolest option, is just too hot for my climate. I try to iron it perfectly, then not stress about the wearing creases, they can’t be helped. It also helps to iron linen clothes in sections, allowing each section to dry afterward. For example, I’ll iron the collar, plackets and sleeves of a linen shirt, let them dry, then do the body, front and back, the next day, so the areas previously ironed don’t just re-wrinkle immediately. For a tricky long dress, say, I’ll even do the front and back separately. Fortunately, my ironing board can stay up in my laundry room all the time, which helps a lot.
Can’t we just appreciate how amazing this fabric is and stop complaining about the creases. Even with the creases, the clothes out of linen are so elevated!!!
@@eleanapapadopoulou7058 I agree! I love linen, no complaints here. Just solutions to those who don’t enjoy linen because of the creases. My last linen videos, you’d be surprised with the amount of people that don’t wear linen just because it creases. Linen creases, not a complaint, just a fact :) it doesn’t bother me and I wear it all the time, summer after summer!
I ordered one pair of the Quince elastic waist pants (I think they are called the “ankle pants”) and after wearing them one day I ordered two more colors because I loved them so much!
this is a very informative video! One thing I would want an update on is how well these linen pieces hold up after washes. Linen clothes, especially linen blends, look beautiful in store but they might hold well after washes even when you follow their washing instructions (wash cold, hang dry).
I just got a pair of white 100% linen jeans from Poetry. They are the only pair of jeans or trousers that ever fit me (straight body shape, narrow hips) and I’ve been looking for 50 years! I’m so excited to wear them. (They don’t come up in their search function, so search by linen trousers). I recommend them highly, they are not too hot for summer like cotton denim, and they’re soft and lightweight. Finally, I found a pair of jeans to wear, I must be the only person in the world who didn’t have any! Age 64, I’ve been trying on trousers and jeans since I was 12, with no luck. Until now!
Thank-you so much for including some southern hemisphere brands! It's really nice for us who live down here- I love the global stores we all shop from but its nice to have options closer to home and you've introduced me to a couple of brands i didn't even know existed! xx
The Reformation linens look beautiful! And funny note about those first Quince trousers. Until recently, that elastic back waist used to be found only on toddler pants. But I will say, Quince does have nice sweaters.
I'm glad you were honest about the quality and didn't just say all the expensive stuff was good which I was worried about when you were talking about h&m and Zara at the start of the video &other stories are really hit and miss with a lot of their stuff I bought a pair of real leather thigh boots from them I was expecting the quality be really good then way influencer's were going on about this brand they felt really cheap and the leather itself wasn't good I've bought leather boots from Zara that are much better quality than the &other stories ones 😢

I have the linen shorts and wide leg drawstring paints from Quince. I love them! I don't mind linen wrinkling, and going for black or navy can minimize the appearance. It's too bad that Everlane set didn't work out. The color looked great on you!
I would like to see a Dissh video, I made a nasty experience with them because of the sizing being all over the place, so I am curious to hear which pieces you have tried out.
Now living in 110 degree weather for the first time, didn’t even own a pair of shorts, but quince was affordable so I bought their shorts and matching tops. I find the tops too long as I prefer not to tuck, linen pants will stretch out in the back so I washed it to shrink a little, linen is not as soft as perhaps more expensive brands and now I’m trying other brands if they are on sale

Mila, you might like Abercrombie and Fitch linen items. I just tried a skirt and trousers from them and they have tiny waists and huge hips on me, they would fit your shape much better. I was disappointed, I loved the color, but no way would these work on my narrow, straight shape. The fabric looked pretty good, but was lined with cotton, which I didn’t realize. Any lining, even cotton, makes a garment much too hot for me in summer. A single layer of linen is all I can stand on a hot day. I ruled out all those cute linen dresses from Banana Republic, too, they are also cotton-lined and very structured.
@@notaclue822 that is correct! As I mentioned, the Sezane and Posse linen pieces that I showed in the video are much thicker compared to Uniqlo and Quince. It comes down to our preference. If I’m going to the beach or need a casual outfit I’d prefer a lightweight linen, but for work or an event, I’d go with something thicker. It does get softer over time. When I was a kid, my mom used laundry starch when ironing linen and it made a huge difference in its weight and feel
H&m have some really good linen and they have good blends too and they have different levels of quality heavy linen light linen linen blend linen rich just because you pay more for an item doesn't mean it's better 😔
@@donnamcdermott443 you’re right :) I have lots of H&M linen pieces that I’ve owned for years (the yellow shirt and blue floral dress I showed are some of them). As for price, Quince, Uniqlo and Abercrombie are equivalent and they have great quality pieces - you do not *always* necessarily have to pay a lot to find god qualify clothes, totally agree with you. This year I went to H&M and couldn’t find many pieces that seemed worth the money though (quality/ style wise).

I love this topic of linen! I bought the Heidi blouse and Jenson trousers too, love this set - but I come from a bit of a conservative culture and trying to see how to make this work; any tips on styling? Trying to cover the shoulder/back area a bit.
@@Magenta1231 it’s a beautiful set! Unfortunately the pants were unflattering on me so I ended up returning both (really wanted the set). If you want to cover the shoulder/arms/back area, I’d try to wear a lightweight over shirt in linen, cotton or lacey material..another option (if the weather allows) is an open knit cardigan that’s airy and breathable. I love blazers too, not sure how you feel about them but it’s a great option in my opinion! :)

@@Magenta1231 thank you ❤️ the waist was really loose and way too high 🥲 the hip area was perfect, so sizing down wasn’t an option. I see what you mean regarding the ruffles, they’re so pretty indeed - I wouldn’t want to hide them. I think for summer we get more limited to add layers, but a cropped tweed jacket or any lightweight jacket would look so cute over it.

@@milainnewyork I like their pieces. I have bought dresses, top, pants, and bedding from them. Quality is good. Love everything except for their pants. Pants are way too loose on me. But maybe it’s because I’m small. I’m 5’3” and between 105 and 110lbs.
Personally, I have owned a few Massimo Dutti pieces and all of them have been disappointing in quality. As in, holes within just a few wears etc. Never again for me
If you are wearing Quince, you cannot be surprised that it's crinkling much easier than say a shirt from With Nothing Underneath. Quality makes a difference with linen
@@janelleespinosa6247 I’m not wearing Quince in the video and I’m not surprised with the wrinkles as you stated 😅 I couldn’t care less about the wrinkles actually, it’s the nature of the fabric. The $320 Posse pants and the $250 Sezane skirt towards the end of the video wrinkle just as much 😁 😉 You’re right about quality (not every linen is the same), but they all wrinkle :)
I don't understand why you start a half hour deep dive on linen by complaining about it wrinkling and giving advice to avoid it. I'd think most people interested already know it does and don't care or actually enjoy it.
@@crisfer22 I wasn’t complaining it wrinkles..I couldn’t care less if it wrinkles or not :) just stating it DOES and responding to a LOT of messages from previous videos (people saying they never wear linen since it wrinkles so much). Trying to help them find a way to get the best out of it by choosing blends, prints or pieces that are not as prone to wrinkles IF this bothers them!
@@milainnewyorki was never into linen because I lived in a wintry place and actually didn’t know linen wrinkles until recently, but in hot weather I doing really care about the wrinkles, it’s just something we need to accept ❤
