The devastating speed at which the Argentinians played did not yield result. But the tactful game played by Germans did it. Really a match worth watching.
Man, I'm a big fan of Messi but it has to be said, he did nothing during extra time. He had done OK during regular time but then he became more of a burden on Argentina. I'm not sure if it was mental, physical or both. At 2:05 he barely tries to go for a run that could've been a real chance. While the rest of the team was playing every ball with maximum intensity, he was just strolling and then trying nothing when in possession. I'm not saying the loss was his fault but if winning the WC with Argentina was his biggest dream, it didn't show.
Out of all the chances created by both teams, argentine had the best clear chances. But all the attackers chocked, its reality. As an argentine fan I admit those chances must be taken when the opponent is germany otherwise you have to suffer in the end. We also missed Di maria he was our best attacker when others (placiao, aguero, higain ) were chocking.

Haha true but 4 years a long time and you usually win the tournament at the peak of your players ability and when they have a bit of experience - Italy and Germany were old teams, Spain also fairly old when they won their championships - Germany and Spain dominated the 8 years around the tournament (Spain won euro 2008, 2012), (Germany placed second in euro 2012, third in WC 2010 and third again in euro 2016) so their players just aged out and they started flawed rebuilds right at the world championship time - unfortunate timing
