ObsoleteOddity This is such a beautiful estate!! I love the classical figures on the parapets, it seems very well designed, and I would LOVE to have the keeping of that greenhouse. It’s clear that the current owners keep the property in good kip even if they are not often in residence. Judging by the statue grouping, there is a sense of Divine provenance over various skills, given the man with the anvil in modern dress. I do hope your bravery and Oddie magic has kept you safe on your journey, and I SO hope you got inside....I’m so curious. What a great headquarters.......and perfect for the Oddities. I read about a young couple who went to investigate the Mother of Darkness castle & found the gates open. The young woman went in (against her companion's warning), knocked on the door, disappeared and was never seen again 😢

It was much more common in the aristocracy for children to be raised by servants or sent to boarding school than for their parents to have raised them. The idea that the parents should have the largest presence and influence in a child's life came from the poor and middle class.

Rich people especially if that day and age had no care for their children. Nannies and governesses raised the children while the parents still travel the world and went to their social events. They weren't a mom as a soccer mom of today's middle-class.

Alice Ribeiro Oh Wales is beautiful. I am Cornish, and although we don't have many castles. We do have some, but they are not as impressive as the Welsh, Scottish and Irish ones. We do have amazing legends, myths and mystical stories to make up for the lack of castles. Us Celts have amazing historical stories.
