Welcome to the M0OGY Radio and Antenna Review channel.
In this video with the kind help of Caine M6MOF (26AT106) and his Yaesu FT3000 transceiver, we show the soon to be released President Washington 10/12m Amateur Radio transceiver.
NOTE: In the video the power meter was showing a low reading due to a quite high VSWR.
This is due to my Vortex Quasar Q82 is set for the 11m band.
In the next video I show power tests into my Vectronic dummy load.
This shows quite clearly between 60-70 watts on FM across the two bands.
It is early days, so more to follow.

What other differences are there other than the 80w power output please Dave....great video as always, be rude to get one as my George 2 is still boxed.... 😲

Can't have too many radios Karl. It has the higher power, repeater shift, a funtion to help using parrot repeaters.......it has much more than the George and could be "as little" as only £30.00 more expensive

@@m0ogy The George 2 does splits, maybe more intuitive on the Washington, wonder when they will be readily available in the UK, hopefully your popping the lid soon, be nice to see what's driving the bad boy, and great to hear that it doesn't get excessively hot....I'm sure the fan add on will work well.

Good old Uncle Charlie, there are many reasons i'd love to live in America.....but 11m radio ownership isn't one of them!

The Daiwa in the video I own, whilst looks new and is even boxed, is properly 25-30 years old. There is a modern version I found on Ebay, a decent brand but I don't know how good they are www.ebay.co.uk/p/1281494601?iid=395316248321

Looks great but £360 is a bit crazy : Update , actually compared to the silly money I have paid for my HF radios the Washington is an ok price , I was reminded that 4 weeks ago I paid £1,349 for the iC -705 5w radio

Personally I don't think that is too off the mark, remember when the Uniden 2830 was launched in 1987/88 they cost £349.00 new, noe that was expensive

@@m0ogy You have a point , I’m saying that is expensive but I bought an IC 705 for £1,350, that was painful for a QRP radio

@@Patrickjdee66 There you go then!! In 1987 I paid £859.00 for a three year old Yamaha RD350LC when a new 2930 was £349.00 new, I've paid an awful lot of money on HF radios over the last 25 years, a matching PSU for my ICom IC756 PROIII cost as much as this radio.

@@Patrickjdee66 It seems a default setting regarding new President radios "Too Expensive" the amount who kept saying that when I showed the George II, then they bought them and soon forgot about the cost!

My antenna drags in noise, but S5 is a bit high, I could always adjust the RF Gain, but then that attenuates the signal as well

You just forget to put on the super filter on this radio...

We don 't The RNC filter on the screen it's why it is noisy

To be fair the noise floor from the aether has been that this week. When conditions calm down again I'd like to see it.

Unfortunately it won't make a bit of difference it's just the rx on all these new noise boxes.

You have to say that tho Dave. No one ever mentions it when doing a review of a new 10/11/12 m radio. Some even do the video with the rf gain backed off a good bit to hide the fact !

@@user-ws5uq9pf6r Believe it or not, all what I say are my own personal thoughts Warren, I have never once been told what to say, not worth bothering showing new products, if that was the case, I never turn the RF gain down and I do have a decent big antenna in the sky that can hear a pin drop.
