Awesome. Have been waiting to see more clips from Dave Mason (formerly of Traffic). This night he hosted the Midnight Special in 1975. He played 8 songs that night (including Feelin' Alright), with 3 clips now shown on Midnight Special channel. Keep 'em coming, thanks.
@@delmedeiros3570He left Traffic after Mr Fantasy in ‘67 but returned in time for the Traffic album in ‘68. He then left again to Produce Family’s first album ‘Music In A Dolls House’. He had 2 left over songs on Traffic’s ‘Last Exit’ from ‘69 and appeared on the Live ‘Welcome To The Canteen’ album from 1970. He then went solo.
Wow I knew he looked familiar and reading his name brought it all back. I remember that he played with many people and I did actually meet and talk with him for a while backstage at a CS&N concert in 1983 when he toured with them.
A fantastic performance. I get different musical vibes here, including a little bit of Caribbean influence, as well as a touch of Jimi Hendrix. Dave Mason is a fantastic musician. Cheers!
Still have my 1st album of Dave’s, bought when it came out by my date when we went to the record store, believe it was called “Peaches Records and Tapes?” Thanks Chris 😉. ‘78 “Mariposa De Oro” is wonderful. What a fantastic singer/guitarist Dave is, whew so lovely am thoroughly enjoying this! He’s got the most gorgeous voice, dark brown eyes & long-dark eyelashes. Thank you Midnight Special! ☺️
Me too especially after seeing him 2 months ago on his Traffic Jam tour ! He is touring all over the USA this summer, 2024, Highly recommend catching it !!!!
I enjoyed a lot of Dave Mason's music over the years. He's still performing now. As with other famous performers who went bald ( such as Jonathan Banks and John Travolta ), Dave eventually shaved his head.
My stupit ass threw away a gift set of MIDNIGHT SPECIAL. A Time Life thing if you're old enough to know what those were. I think they were CDs. Every. Flippin' M.S. show. Thanks for reminding me to kick my own ass again. 😊
Great song! It had a little acoustic feel, that 70s funky guitar sound and organ, and then it got downright psychadelic!🔥 Dave is great live, too! When I saw him it was all acoustic, just himself and another guy. Thanks, Midnight Special! 😁💜
@@StephanieJeanne I looked and apparently he only played with Dave until the early 80's, so I believe it was another guitarist that you saw...sorry for my mistake. Jim Krueger passed away in 1993.
Mike Finnigan, besides being a great keyboardist, was a fantastic singer. Listen to him on Dave Mason's live album (Certified Live) singing the blues "Goin down slow"... where he also evokes Ray Charles in the song's introduction. Your interpretation of this classic is chilling.
Dave is kicking off his Traffic Jam tour at the end of February and plans to tour all year across the USA. His current band rocks and includes Mark Stein Of Vanilla Fudge dame.
I don’t know if I’ve ever heard this guy before. I’m drawing a blank on the name. But he has a terrific voice. I wonder if he has any effects on his mic though? If not he has this natural reverb when he sings that’s amazing. It sounds like he’s singing in, oh, a cave maybe. But it’s really good. Now I might have to look at some of his other music. (I just looked and he sings, “We Just Disagree.” I’ve heard that song probably hundreds of times but I didn’t know who sings it.)
Check out his live version of All Along The Watchtower here on You Tube. It is outstanding. Dave and his band "clean house" with this version (his Live LP recorded at the Universial Amp. Theather in 1970's)
