This was my first interaction with this game. After many hours and a few days, I finally made it to Darnassus. Once they told me to take the portal to the docks and I realized I was inside a massive tree the whole time, I knew this game was much bigger than anything I had played before. That was the hook, line and sinker for me.
a darker tidbit that most players miss is that if you stay to see Sethir's reaction to being pickpocketed, he will curse you and then throw himself from the branch, likely to his death (i sat nearby for a minute after pickpocketing him to sort my inventory and witnessed it firsthand)
Oh that's an awesome catch!! I assume they did that so he would respawn with the item back in his inventory for the next player, but I didn't know that! Such a rad detail
2 Years late, but I had to add to your question at 10:45, the lake and river is maintained by Teldrassil itself, pulling up water from the sea through capillary action, then moving it upwards as any tree would in the real world. Depositing some overflow into the lake
Wait, did someone say Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker? I love Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, I wish I had a Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. I'm jealous of anyone who owns a Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. Do you own a Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker? If so, I hope you appreciate your Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
Indeed, we are talking about Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker! It took me great effort obtaining my Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker but you can also get Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker if you work hard enough, and then you yourself could get Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker and appreciate your Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker!
Make sure it's the one sword you don't break, you don't want the whole WoW community to turn against you.. believe me when I say that's scary as all hell! 😅
Honestly, I don’t understand how you don’t have more subscribers... your content is spot on and I actually learn something from it- you have fantastic mic quality- and you have a voice fit for people to listen too. It’s all really fantastic!!
The Temple of The Moon's music is unique to Teldrassil and a small island off the coast of Ghostlands. I'm unsure if you had to go to this island for a quest, but it looks like a small settlement with a moonwell and even a ship off the seabound coast. I go there when I want to hear the music now, since Teldrassil is gone.
I didn't know that about the Ghostlands, but that's a really cool detail! Given the Blood Elf roots with the Night Elves, it doesn't surprise me, but it's still very, very cool. You know, I think it's super cool that they later took the leitmotif from the Temple of the Moon and incorporated it into Suramar's music. Such an awesome touch
aaah yes, completely forgot this island existed. there is a quest which sends horde players to it to find i think its 3 pieces of paper, commands, infos and notes, which was quite an annoying quest because they could spawn in every single little tend, on small desks, beside a tree and even on the boat at the end of the island, yet the nightelfs are respawning very quickly and you always ended up pulling more than one. im not sure if the quest still exists, but at some point i stopped doing it, because the island itself was just so out of the way
Elune-adore! This was my very first starting zone and my main is still that very first night elf Druid 😭 So much nostalgia in this video. Thanks for this!
3:55 damn I just realized that this annoyed the hell out of me back when I first played a Nightelf in like 2005 or 2006 and now is the first time I realized why there are no minerals In Teldrassil... More than 15 years later. Thanks for pointing that out.
I would like to see an Ashenvale movie. Some of my fondest memories are of Teldrassil and Ashenvale, when I was a noob NELF Hunter, in late Vanilla. Was new to the game and spent months in these two areas leveling. I still get chills every time I hear the Ashenvale music. My first interaction with a GM was in this area, I was in awe... he showed up riding a dragon hovering, it's wings flapping, years before there were flying or dragon mounts. As great is the game is today... players in the last 10 yrs or so will never experience the connection to other players and GMs we had in the early years.
I just started playing WoW for the first time and decided I would play classic, I made a Night Elf Hunter and so far I am in love with Teldrassil. Your channel is wonderful by the way, I’m trying to absorb as much info as I can as a new and clueless player :)
As a WoW player from the old days of vanilla, I have a soft spot for this zone. My very first character that I ever soloed with was a Night Elf Hunter. So everything about the zone is very nostalgic. That said, I knew everything in this video except the bit about Elariel. So you actually showed me something new which is fantastic! After playing this game for close to 20 years now it's nice that I can still be pleasantly surprised by something I never knew about. Cheers to you, Sir!
I'd really like to see an in-depth review of the appearances of NPC factions. So instead of a zone its a faction I.E the Scarlet Crusade (which has a discord of -very- passionate fans eager to help.) As well as factions such as the centurion circle and argent dawn which have NPCs dotted all across the world. Keep going dude, your channel will explode any moment and let me know if you would like any help what-so-ever with the Scarlet Crusade, you may find it interesting to know that the Scarlet crusade has had a loyal fanbase for over a decade that have delved as far as you can really delve into the factions appearances.
I actually did a deep dive into the Defias Brotherhood and the Deadmines, and the Scarlet Crusade is next on my list ;) It's good to hear that there seems to be demand for those sorts of videos, though. They just require a bit more prep-work and research, and I want to make sure I do it right. I mean, it's one of the coolest factions in the lore, right!? I'll have to look into this discord, though :o
Ha. Back in the day, I had guildmates summon me to Dun Morogh so I could get a white spotted cat for my night elf hunter, since I had seen a player riding on one and decided I had to have it as a pet. If only we had known there was a rare spawn I could have tamed!
thinking about how many times i ran all the way from teldrassil to dun morogh as a level 10 hunter just to get my first pick hunter pet to start with, i felt that. if only i wouldve known about this rare mob a decade and years ago
Love your work! Your voice is perfect for this kind of narration and the production value is fantastic. Thanks so much for these videos! Been a Warcraft fan all my life and I'm still learning new things!
12:51 The tree is still there, it can likely recover eventually. Anduin _did_ promise to help with that, though he seemingly has yet to make good on said promise.
This is where I first stepped foot onto Azeroth. After trying out the game for the first time at a friends house I met a very helpful player who taught me a bunch that first day. I still think about them sometimes, even though I've long since forgotten their name.. I didn't think it would hurt this much seeing that tree burn..
My favorite was Elariel, never knew she was there! Would love to see videos on the rest of the starting zones in the game :) I don't really play horde but I do really love the undead starting zone, that would be a cool video!
I have to say its a toss up between the lake south of darnassus or the abandoned furbolg village on the eastern shore. I really love the just empty places or even areas just with non aggressive mobs. It gives lots of breathing space for some fun rp possibilities.
I love how you narrate these videos. There are people who take notice of the fantastic artwork designers have meticulously put into the map scenes and names of players.
This was so nostalgic for me!! My first-ever WoW character was a Night Elf Rogue, so seeing all of these little secrets was a great trip down memory lane!! I discovered your channel by chance a couple of days ago because of my algorithm, and I've been watching this series ever since! I've subbed and like every video from this series so far. I also intorduced your channel to my room mate/best friend who also plays WoW, and he subbed as well!! Please keep this series going!!
I love that I've been playing since classic but still learn new things from videos like this, wow is a great lil game. I really enjoyed the more light hearted tone in your voice this video, too.
Thank you! Yea, I feel like these more lighthearted subjects wouldn't work terribly well with a more serious voice, and I still get to do the "srs bizness" voice in the lore vids... but these are just for fun!
I will never understand why they removed the amazing class based quests. Like who signed off on that? “Let’s remove all this incredibly interesting content that already exists, we don’t want people earning rewards for engaging with their class fantasy”. Uhhhh no? Instead They build systems around repeating stale content ad nauseam and remove any unique stuff. So frustrating.
So stoked to see that you uploaded this! I always thought how interesting it would be if they let us explore the remains of teldrasil after the ex warchiefs temper tantrum. One of my favorite zones covered by one of my favorite youtubers! Thank you so much for your awesome content yet again! P.S. You gave me Moon Guard RP by the river nostalgia and brought back memories I didn't know I had...for better or worse lol.
Wonderful content once again! For the next episode, I’d love if you’d do either the Worgen starting zone or the goblin ones. Since goblins have two separate islands in their starting area, that might require two episodes!
"And likely to get romantic", you have no idea. One day I was just exploring around and came across that first tiny lake with the dock/boat. I thought it was a cool little out-of-the-way area. And then I noticed a couple naked ERPers near the dock. I guess they were doing everything in whispers because there wasn't anything being said in /say. I can never pass over that lake without thinking about that surprise.
According to the book, "Stormrage" (According to a Wiki) the structures were built after Teldrassil (the Tree) grew up. Head Cannon: The environment (Earth, stone, water, trees), Furbolgs and animals were probably already living there and they just were taken up when the tree sprouted. Hence that lone furbolg camp on the sea level and some furbolgs on the east side, up top, could be seen on the branches.
Oh whoa, good catch! I am working my way through the novels, and that's a super cool detail! Just to clarify, do you mean there are some furbolg buildings up on the branches on the east side? Or just some furbolg (the creatures) hanging out on the east side of Teldrassil? I could find the creatures, but not any of the buildings, and would love to include them in a future "Easter Eggs I missed" video!
@@FullMotionVideos On Retail, the sea-level furbolg huts at 72/53 (coordinates) are directly below Starbreeze village. The nearest furbolg camps (up top) are 64/56 and 67/46. The 67/46 camp, with Ferocitas the dream eater, just happens to have a few furbolgs on the branch. As for the limbs on the way up, I could not find any signs of life.
i feel like Blizzard lost me a bit when they burned down Teldrassil, it was such an iconic place and it had so many memories, them removing it from the lore completely felt like a slap in the face to my childhood. No longer can you RP in Darnassus or Teldrassil or see it updated.
Ooooh, I want to do Duskwood soon. To be honest, I think that's one of my favorite zones of the entire game. I'll get to it soon, though I do think I'd want to at least hit Westfall first. Might run a poll on it soon!
When i first started playing the game, i could never find my way out of Shadowglen, and thought Shadowglen was the entire game for Night Elves. I had no idea howbbig the world was, and couldnt believe my eyes when i saw other races in Darkshore.
Love that you add a yellow marker for the map. Now it's easier to see where you are. :) And as always: very very good video! Nice that you mention the rare mobs and even the old quest npcs before the Cata revamp :) And I never knew the reference from Elariel :o
Thank you very much! The yellow map marker was suggestions I got from reddit, and it was a good idea. Glad it got suggested, it really does make the map sections easier to read. And for sure! The Rare Mobs so often have cool little stories attached, and the Classic NPCs are from when I fell in love with the game so, I feel like I have to include them haha
Very nice and nostalgic video. Thank you. I would have added the rare fruit trees that are found towards the south. I think an NPC will look at the fruit and gather some information about the corruption of the tree.
You missed out the the Daranuss Sentinels. The are two of them in Saranuss who are sleeping on duty. They are each behind a building. On is near the Howling Oak and the other is the same side of the Temple of the Moon in Daranuss.
Good to note, I'll be sure to grab those! I'm covering the major capital cities separately from the zones they are in, but I definitely didn't know those were there! Gonna write them down now :)
I’ve been playing for a few years, and of course I know the meme, but I think this is the first time I’ve actually seen what Thunderfury (Blessed Blade of the Windseeker) looks like.
@@FullMotionVideos yeah they would use engineering cloak to slow fall till they hit a wall then alt+f4 then log back in and they would be on gm island. There is a video you can look up called history of gm island
So i just discovered this gem of a channel and after watching all the wow easter egg videos ... i'm wondering how would a drinking game be where you drink each time you say " Here, on your map " ... I'm guessing you'd probably end up in a coma. Please, nobody try this xD
YEA please don't!! I stared that as a simple way to show where the easter egg is, but now I guess it has to be an ongoing joke ;p Pretty much have to intentionally pronounce it that way from now on!
Indeed, we are talking about [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker], would you like to join us in our discussion of [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]? You do not need to own a [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker] to talk about [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]!
Hey just commenting to remind you how much I apperciate your wow videos, and I wish you would make more !! One of the better channels, please stick with classic content!
3:34 Norse myth is all over the place in WoW, it's a fantasy game, of course it is. Nelfs are as close as WoW has to Dark Elves too and Dark Elves came from norse myth. The very concept of elves in general came from norse myth. Elves come from Álfheimr (aka Alfheim) and Dark Elves come from Svartálfheim.
THE MARMOTS NEARLY GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK. I used trap detection around her playing my rogue, farting around and a few of them agrod. I got it on my snapchat!!!
I few over Teldrassil so many times, including even recently in late '22 when my GF started playing so I can have the map explored for her, and completely missed that Nightsaber quest. I'd call it a.. Mist opportunity :|
I can not wait until my kid gets a little older and brings home some Geography homework and asks me where something it… “Alaska is around here, on your map.” It will be a joke just for me
Drive through rural Indiana and you'll pass all kinds of private property that have ponds smaller than that with wooden docks, paddleboats, fishing boats, etc. People are just weird.
Side note, can people really refuse life saving surgery? I thought doctors were obliged to always treat patients and extend their lives as much as possible, even by forceful treatment?
Did someone say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]? Holy shyte is I had a dollar everytime I started that in trade chat, I'd very likely have somewhere between 250-500 dollars! 😅
If I can remember back 17 years, healers had to heal NPCs in their starting area but funnily enough with bandages instead of healing spells. So any class could have done the quests.
@@FullMotionVideos Btw.. I've always been curious about Feralas🤔 It's such a random zone in my mind. Like Un'Guro Crater. Do you think you'll ever make any "secrets"-videos on any of them?
In game design, the idea of "fantasy" in a game like WoW is meant to distinguish content designed purely for flavor or that has objectives that are designed around flavor. So a "Class Fantasy" for something like a Paladin would be a quest where you are told to use your light magic to vanquish undead. "Profession Fantasy" for something like a Blacksmith would be a quest where you're told we need to forge great armor for the armies. That sort of stuff! Things that wouldn't make sense for a Rogue or a Herbalist to do, in those examples. You are correct that the whole game is "fantasy" in terms of its genre (high fantasy, specifically), but "fantasy" means different things at different levels. :)
